" I wrote a great deal of these lyrics after a young fan had explained to me that her boyfriend had just recently died in a car accident. She told me that he held her hand for the first time at our one of our shows. She told me that she just wanted to thank us for being a part of their lives. This was one of the most shocking and heartbreaking things I'd ever heard. I wrote the song as a gift to her. It's meant to be her boyfriend speaking to her, telling her that he is still watching over her and that he will love her forever. " - Vic Fuentes

I think that instead of "I'm gonna tear out the thread of our love from your skin. Till you're far too embarrassed from all the attention." it's "I'm gonna tear out the thread one by one from your skin, 'till your bones feel embarrassed from all the attention."

i think "So, live, and love, and die." should be "so live in love and die"

Listening to the album straight through, from Fast times to Stay Away, I was thinking the album was getting a little too slow. Thank God this one kicks in fast haha

I think it’s about depression and self harm, the girl is depressed an ashamed. And he’s hurting seeing her depressed so she’s “contagious” but he still loves her. “Would somebody make me go blind for the rest of my life” He “ignores” her scares but is still effected by them.

its about a girl that's "sick" in a mental way, "last night she recited every reason shes fine" no person that's actually fine would do that "would somebody make me go blind for the rest of life" is him being blinded by the love he has for her. very beautiful song you can find more meanings in the rest of the lyrics that's just a short summary of what i think it means.

In my opinion, I feel like this song was about a girl who died and had eye cancer that made her blind, insomnia, and depression

"Cause I don't want to leave without you buried by my side, I'd rather kill the one responsible for fallen stars at night, cause they fall all around me, the night could be deadly" He doesn't want her to die, and the stars are defined as sadness. They fall around him, causing sadness, severe sadness could lead to death, in which he states "The night could be deadly''

"They'll never take us alive'' Death isn't going to take THEM alive, stating that if she dies, then he'll die.

"(can you chase away the darkness?), to live in love, and die'' Here, when it goes "Can you chase away the darkness", I picture the girl saying that, saying her sickness is the darkness, and she wants him to make it go away. The last part, he's stating that he'll fall in love with her, and then die.

"Last night, she recited every reason she's fine, so if we're headed there together at the same time, you sing while I drive'' The girl is depressed, and she lies to him, telling him that she's fine; okay. When he says "So if we're headed there together at the same time'' he's stating that he's going to die with her, and they're going to go to Heaven together at the same time.

''And this is only a test, sober and scaring me to death'' God is testing them, and the boyfriend is scared that she could die, literally any second.

"And I don't care if you're sick, I don't care if you're contagious, I would kiss you even if you were dead" Here he is saying that, even if she's sick, even if she could share her cancer with him, and if she was dead, he would kiss her anyways. It's pretty self explanatory.

"Would somebody make me go blind for the rest of my life, cause I'd do anything to hold your hand?" Since the girlfriend is blind due to her cancer, he wants to be blind too, just to feel how she feels. Even if he dies or not, he wants to be blind, because he feels terrible for how his girlfriend feels.
