Christmas In the Silent Forest Lyrics
Seeing colours
Ribbons of their truth
Can I touch to reconnect?
See beyond the light
In bubbles rise to surface
In someone's eye
Synchron's that dwell
Silence is crying
Is crying
Open doors
And empty glasses
Christmas in the silent forest
The limp ticking off the hand
Penetrate is whispers
In shadows rise to surface
In someone's mind
Echoes that dwell
Echoes that dwell...
Blameless sorrow
Hollow hush of trees
Roots are deeply intertwined
Penetrate in whispers
In shadows rise to surface
In someone's sigh
Segments that yell
Silence is crying
Is crying
Open doors
And empty glasses
Christmas in the silent forest
The limp ticking off the hand
Hollow hush of trees
How do you keep?
Sweet slumber
Sleep among the forest trees...
Ribbons of their truth
Can I touch to reconnect?
See beyond the light
In bubbles rise to surface
In someone's eye
Synchron's that dwell
Is crying
Open doors
And empty glasses
Christmas in the silent forest
The limp ticking off the hand
In shadows rise to surface
In someone's mind
Echoes that dwell
Hollow hush of trees
Roots are deeply intertwined
Penetrate in whispers
In shadows rise to surface
In someone's sigh
Segments that yell
Is crying
Open doors
And empty glasses
Christmas in the silent forest
The limp ticking off the hand
How do you keep?
Sweet slumber
Sleep among the forest trees...

Ghost in the shell is an amazing anime, truly the best there is. But aside from its complex yet intelligent story it's the characters of section nine that really stand out.
However, due to the fact that Motoko is the leader and has a cyberbody from which emotion is not easy to read it felt like we got to know all the character's except her. Then, when this song plays at the end of season two and she's looking back at her team, that's the moment I truly connect with her character.
That's the moment I realize this woman has one hell of a heavy burden/heart, but she's got no outlet for dealing with what happened in the last episode. As she somberly looks to her team and this song plays in the background, I get the sense that we've barely scratched the surface when it comes to understanding Motoko Kusanagi.
