Dreaming Light Lyrics

Suddenly, life has new meaning
Suddenly, feeling is being

And you shine inside
and love stills my mind like the sunrise
Dreaming light of the sunrise

Suddenly, I don't have to be afraid
Suddenly, it all falls into place

And you shine inside
and love stills my mind like the sunrise
Dreaming light of the sunrise
Dreaming light
And you shine inside
and love stills my mind like the sunrise
Dreaming light of the sunrise

I feel you but I don't really know you
I dreamed of you from the moment I saw you
And I've seen the sunrise in your eyes
The sky, the sea, the light

Live your dream beneath the northern horizon
Be at peace, set your heart in flight again
For the light is truth
The light is you

Allfadir could well have the true meaning of this song in the bag as the "northern horizon" and "dreaming light" sounds a lot like the Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights. Sure enough Daniel Cavanagh now lives in Norway.

However my interpretation is about a newborn and the effect it has on the new father.

"Suddenly, life has new meaning" - the man must take on a new role in his life; new meaning being the arrival of his newborn and the start of the family he now has with his partner. "Suddenly, feeling is being" - everything he feels for the child he must portray [show his love] and not conceal/hide.

~ "And you shine inside, and love - stills my mind like the sunrise" - the baby makes the father smile inside and out. The baby is a constant reminder of what the man [and his partner] created. He is so taken with his newborn, he feels he could just gaze and smile at [it] them forever. ~

"Suddenly... I don't have to be afraid/ it all falls into place" - everything that worried him is no longer an issue, his duty comes to him as instinct, second nature.

~ "Dreaming light" - perhaps he feels like the baby has saved his life; before he was in darkness but now he's seen the light and knows what he has to do. The dreaming aspect could well draw on the nerves he felt in the time leading up to the birth. ~

"I feel you but don't really know you" - he can love, care for and hold the baby, but knows nothing of what the baby is feeling [obvious, but it's being spelled out to the father for what seems like the first time - it's all new].

"I dreamed of you from the moment I saw you" - similar to the nerves he had before the baby was born, the father now has a foundation for his slumber; it was just a dream before, now it's reality and he has his own child to dream about.

"I've seen the sunrise in your eyes, The sky, the sea, the light" - the father can see the future and/or equivalent of natural beauty in his child's eyes, and can ultimately compare it to these views.

~ "Live your dream beneath the northern horizon" - [beneath the northern horizon is technically the same as living below the sun in the sky] I see the father cradling the baby before bedtime, talking to it in the context of growing up and having dreams about the future.

"Be at peace, set your heart in flight again" - now the baby must go to sleep, but it can still dream.

"For the light is truth, the light is you... " - again reinforcing how the child has re-ignited the fire in the father's life. His paternal duty must be fulfilled and now he feels the strength to do it; give his child the best upbringing and care he can [along with his partner of course!]

Whether this is wrong or no-one agrees, I will sing this beautiful song as a lullaby to my future child :)
My Interpretation

Great song! Read somewhere that this song is about a girl Vincent or Daniel (don't remember who) met in Oslo, Norway. Dreaming light being the northern light (Aurora Borealis) which is a very common sight in Norway. So this song is dedicated to her.
