Ours Lyrics

After tonight,
who knows where we'll be tomorrow
what if we're never here again?

After tonight
This will be a lifetime ago
so let's stay up until the sky bleeds red.

And we'll stop stop stop the world from moving
Stop stop stop the grass from turning
Stop this night from fading away

This time is ours
If I could hold this moment in my hands
I'd stop the world from moving
I'd stop the grass from turning

This time is ours
inside a frozen memory of us
And we are motionless, motionless

Gone like a dream that I have just awoken from
Fading away, just out of reach
And we are here, but I already miss you
even as you're lying next to me

And we'll stop stop stop the world from moving
Stop stop stop the grass from turning
Stop this night from fading away

This time is ours
If I could hold this moment in my hands
I'd stop the world from moving
I'd stop the grass from turning

This time is ours
inside a frozen memory of us
And we are motionless, motionless x3

And we'll stop stop stop the world from moving
Stop stop stop the grass from turning
Stop this night from fading away, fading away

This time is ours
If I could hold this moment in my hands
I'd stop the world from moving
I'd stop the grass from turning

This time is ours
inside a frozen memory of us
And we are motionless, motionless

This time is ours x5

this might just be my own little warped personal meaning, but i interpreted the song as referring to a one night stand kind of ordeal. except not. they're together for a night, but there's more feelings involved than he wants to admit. so he sings about it. (and when i say he, i'm referring to the singer, regardless of whether it's his own experience or not) especially when he sings, "After tonight,/ who knows where we'll be tomorrow/ what if we're never here again?". it's a one night thing, so they've got to make the best of it. but it's somewhat concerning, as he sings about "already miss[ing] you, even as you're lying next to me" = feelings. but perhaps 'she' (i'm assuming) only sees this as a hookup and for that he must make the best of the night and enjoy it while he can. they might not be together later, but they are for now.

I have always loved The Bravery but I didn't find out about this song until I heard it on Eclipse. I got goose bumps right away.

I think this would be an awesome song for senior high school students like towards graduation day bc I am a senior now and I think I'll feel like stopping the world from moving so I won't have to go out in the world all on my own...I sorta like to come up with my own meanings for songs haha

My Opinion

I know that feeling coz I wanted it as our graduation song coz the lyrics relate to how u feel at the time of graduating but the teaches said no : (

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. i fell in love with the sun & the moon cd, and i got slow poison as soon as it came out, but i wasn't a huge fan of their newest cd. i feel like this song is more like their older stuff.....anyways i REALLY wanted my school to play this song for our homecoming b/c i completely agree with holamuchacho; it is an awesome song for senior yr , but it didn't get approved :(

my interpretation is an end of summer/senior year/ type thing where the future is uncertain, your probably not gonna see this person again for a while, etc. it's one of the easiest songs to interpret its very self-explanatory

This sort of reminds me of a part of "The Short Secong Life of Bree Turner" when she and Diego are returning from evesdropping on Riley and HER. The have a moment together, and that is the last she saw of him.

i can be completely wrong, but when i hear this song, this is what i think: he's spending time with a girl he truly cares about & likes a lot (maybe they're even dating), and he wants to make the best of the moment because it may be the last moment they have together. they might be in a forbidden relationship or something along the lines of that. but they both want to enjoy the very moment and stop the clock to make it last.
