Plain Truth Lyrics
Why do you question
When there's no answer told?
Plain truth is nothing
You can't buy it when it's sold
Save all your money
And they won't reason why
Why all the worry?
They'll spend it when you die
Chorus:
Don't look for something
Plain truth is nothing,
nothing but the plain truth
You stand and wonder
Just let it warm your skin
Take all the living
Live life and let it win
Plain truth means nothing
Cry, laugh and cry again
You question answers
Born, live and die, Amen
Chorus:
Don't look for something
Plain truth is nothing,
nothing but the plain truth
When there's no answer told?
Plain truth is nothing
You can't buy it when it's sold
And they won't reason why
Why all the worry?
They'll spend it when you die
Don't look for something
Plain truth is nothing,
nothing but the plain truth
Just let it warm your skin
Take all the living
Live life and let it win
Cry, laugh and cry again
You question answers
Born, live and die, Amen
Don't look for something
Plain truth is nothing,
nothing but the plain truth

To me, this song seems to be saying that people would do well not to overthink life as a whole.
For example, the line "Why do you question, when there's no answer told?"
seems to be pointing out that the question "What is the [universal, objective] purpose of life?"
can't possibly have an answer, so there's no point in asking it.
We assume that there must be some grandiose purpose or meaning explaining why we are on Earth, and how we ought to spend our time. In fact, there is no such overarching meaning or purpose.
Hence: "Don't look for something. Plain truth is nothing - nothing but the plain truth."
i.e. It is plainly apparent that there is no objective "purpose of life", so there is no point in asking these meaningless questions.
