Rill Rill Lyrics
have a heart, have a heart, have a heart
sixteen six six six
and i know the part
you are the river flow
and we could never know
we're just the weathermen
you make the wind blow
keep thinkin bout every straight face yes
wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces
what about them?
i'm all about them
six such straight A's
cut em in the bathroom
so this is it then
you're here to win friend
click click settle up
see you on the moon then
you're all alone friend
pick up the phone then
ring ring call 'em up
tell em bout the new trends
uh uh uh
have a heart, have a heart, have a heart
sixteen six six six and you fell apart
you form the terror pack
and i'm aware of that
well we can fist fight
drunk like the parent trap
keep thinkin bout every straight face yes
wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces
we never blink see
and you can see me
we fell asleep in the middle of the theory
sixteen six six six
and i know the part
you are the river flow
and we could never know
we're just the weathermen
you make the wind blow
wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces
what about them?
i'm all about them
six such straight A's

I tried to correct the lyrics as much as I could. Tell me that you guys think:
Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart Sixteen, six, six, six and I know the part You are the river flow And we can never know We're just a weatherman You make the wind blow
Keep thinking about every straight face, yes Wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces What about them I'm all about them Six sets straight, ace Cut 'em in the bathroom
So this is it then? You're here to win, friend Click, click saddle up see you on the moon then You're all alone friend Pick up the phone then Ring, ring call them up Tell them about the new trends
So this is it then? You're here to win, friend Click, click saddle up see you on the moon then You're all alone friend Pick up the phone then Ring, ring call them up Tell them about the new trends
Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart Sixteen, six, six, six and you fell apart We form a tarot pack And I'm aware of that But we could fist fight drunk like the parent trap
Keep thinking about every straight face, yes Wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces We never blink see And you can see me We fell asleep in the middle of the fury
So this is it then? You're here to win, friend Click, click saddle up see you on the moon then You're all alone friend Pick up the phone then Ring, ring call them up Tell them about the new trends

I think this song is about plaing cards/gambling.
"Have a heart" (hearts on cards)
Keep thinking about every straight face (Poker face) Six sets straight (A straight in poker) ace (Ace card) Cut 'em in the bathroom (Cut cards)
You're here to win, friend (Win at what? Cards) Click, click settle up (settle up after losing)
Maybe the "see you on the moon then" is about "shoot the moon" in Hearts?

I don't think it's about cards. I think it's about drugs and getting yourself into debt/trouble due to it, but I do think it's using poker terminolgy throughout the song. I think you're right about that. I also think 'the river flow, and you can never know' is a texas hold em reference :)

The chimes in the song remind me of a casino. Also, for a long time before considering the meaning I was trying to figure out what that crazy bass grumbling is in the song and concluded (I think) that it's fingers tapping nervously.

@jilliom Totally agree. Everyone else seems to think this song is about drugs? The number of card references in this song is pretty unmistakable.

If this isn't the album of the year, it's the album of the summer at the very least. I didn't think they'd be able to keep the magic from the demo intact, but it's still fuckamazing!!
It's the album of my life, and I get through albums faster than pacman through dots.

The line after 'what about them, I'm all about them' is clearly 'six sets straight, ace' as in tennis.
keep listening, and you shall see that the true meaning is a coke reference. uh dur

Does it always have to be about drugs? I agree with deevo. Six sets straight ace is obviously tennis.

Cut em in the bathroom is not lines of coke. It's the strings of a tennis racket. It's how they won six sets straight. Ace.

This song is about betrayal between BFFs.
This song is about betrayal between BFFs.
I think its not only about "teen troubles", but also teen drug use, and in particular cocaine. For me anyway, this is expressed as (presumably) 2 good friends trying cocaine in the school bathroom. The "Six sets straight, ace Cut 'em in the bathroom" (possibly six straight lines, albeit a lot of coke, but who are we to judge?).Also what ties into this theory is "Click, click saddle up see you on the moon then" which is easily symbolism for getting high; since the phrasing here is directed to someone else, we can make the assumption about at least 2 participants in total.
An alternate (and personally imo, less likely) option is a suicide pact.
I totally agree with what you're saying. When I first heard this song, and hadn't analysed the lyrics, I did hear "Cut 'em in the bathroom" and think of self-harm... but I think your theory is much more plausable.

ACCORDING TO THE OFFICIAL SLEIGH BELLS TWITTER,
""Rill Rill" chorus lyric is usually misinterpreted as "click click saddle up" when in fact it's "click click settle up"..." "...which is a gun being cocked in the face and a debt to be paid."
AndrewIndie's interpretation was -almost- correct, I think these might be 100%...
It's still kind of a love song. Or at least a feel good song. If a hipster chick from Brooklyn is cutting anything in the bathroom it's a line of coke. Good song.
i'm pretty sure it goes "pick up the phone then"
