We Clean Up So Well Lyrics

Of course you're all crazy
Everyone but me
I watched the blood spill overseas
all from the TVs, but
I could give, I could give a shit if you're scared cause
Everyone can taste your hatred

Yeah, we clean up so well
Sure as hell, like a picture
Money speaks right to her

Just stay with the V.I.Ps
Limousines
It's all in the photography,
and the bodies
But now that you're here,
I guess we made it
I saw the fear, it covered your faces

I can't see, I can't see this ever changing
Everyone can taste your hatred

So I told you,
I don't have this answer
You're no different girl,
but we could still pretend
And you got carried away
in your own dress-up
I disappeared with some other actress

Yeah, we clean up so well
Sure as hell, like a picture
Money speaks right to her

(I believe, I believe her)

I love what I am seeing,
Guess I'll call it a reason
(No, we gotta go)

Yeah, we clean up so well
Sure as hell, like a picture
Money speaks back to her

(I believe, I believe her)

I love what I am seeing,
Guess I'll call it a reason
(No, you gotta go)

Amazing I was wondering when these lyrics would be posted. I'm not sure what its about yet but Leighton writes a lot about a girl who was a photographer so I'm obviously guessing this is about her. The line about money reminds of Sleep Well. And limousines reminds me of A Story For Super. I love how Lydia's songs relate to each other and tell a story. Leighton is a lyrical genius. I honestly can't figure him out. Amazing song. I'm freaking out about the rest of the album, can't wait.

I came up with these lyrics by ear, just from listening a few times through. So, corrections and suggestions are welcome.

But yes! I agree, there are so many themes and ideas that you see showing up throughout both of their previous albums. I was reminded of their previous photography and picture references too. Can't wait to see what the rest of this coming album brings.

Pretty much what I heard apart from a few minor things:

"So I told you, I know how this ends You're not different girl, but we could still pretend"

and I think it's

"(I believe, I believe her)"

I meant "You're no different girl"

ahh, good call. i can definitely hear that. thank you!

Okay so here's what I've gotten (pretty much what I already said) but Leighton sang about a girl with "expensive taste" in Laugh Before You Grin. Which has connections with Fools & Luxury. I think this connects to this song with "Just stay with the V.I.P's, Limousines" Also "Money speaks back to her" which like I said, is really close to Sleep Well. The photography reference was a lot like in "Her and Haley" and also every time he sings about pictures. like in this song "sure as hell like a picture" and also lines about pictures and images come up in many other songs (Smile You've Won, Laugh Before You Grin, December, Camera Lens and Careful Days, Your Taste Is My Attention, and I'm sure other songs I've missed.)

Sleep Well (I believe) was about how Leighton fought the addiction to cocaine, and he won. But when he went back and saw the girl who got him into drugs in the first place, she was still "In the valley wasting away" and I think he named it Sleep Well for obvious reasons, now that drugs were behind him, he would finally sleep well.

This song shows that the photographer, the girl with expensive taste, and the drugged out girl were the same person. (possibly Haley?)

I'm really glad this song was written, it almost makes the other songs make more sense and kind of brings them together into this crazy story.

Also this may be a stretch, but when he sings "You got carried away in your own dress up" for some reason I think back to how he sang about the girl who was always dreaming. he sings about that maybe as much or even more than the photo references. So that could be the same girl too.

I'm not sure if Leighton is singing about the same girl, or a couple different girls. but this makes a lot of the songs come together and makes it seem like one person was what all this came too. who knows.

I can sort of hear "It's all in the photography, and the BODIES." instead of "parties", but i'm not sure. anyone else hear that?

Yeah I originally hear "bodies" I think that may be right

Having listened to the mastered version, I'm pretty sure he says, "guess I'll call it a reason," not "guess I'm calling her reason."

I agree with @xredrain09x

This is very, very minor, but I think it's "I can't see this ever changing," not "I can see this never changes."

Yeah, I agree. A few lines became a lot clearer in the mastered version. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Made the changes.
