Most Wanted Lyrics

up late at night all alone
can't you see that I'm trying?
trying so hard to hold on
to the things I know
but in the evening I will have to go
what I most want is bad for me I know

out in the dark, shaking hands
in the street, I'm drifting
drifting away from my family towards my foes
my mother told me you'll reap what you sow
what you most is want is bad for me you know

back in my home late at night
all alone, I'm flying
flying above all my troubles
my mind's a gull
when I am happy my heart starts to slow
what I most want is bad for me I know

late in the morning I wake
all alone, I'm crying
crying for all of the people who love me so
but when we get sad we know where to go
what we most want is bad for us we know

flirtation
drug use
and adultery

this is definitely about drugs, idk what kind though...maybe weed cus you know, flying (high)? you can get it in the streets...or maybe cocaine or something hardcore because withdrawal, which seems like its represented in the last part.

I agree, but it might be about heroin. "when i am happy my heart starts to slow." heorin usage causes the heart rate to decrease, whereas marijuana and cocaine cause it to increase.

My Interpretation

It's heroin.

"up late at night all alone can't you see that I'm trying? trying so hard to hold on to the things I know"

I know I'm going to use later, but doesn't it look like I'm trying not to? Can't you see me trying? (This is part of the addiction ritual)

"but in the evening I will have to go"

And dopesick is predictable, down to the hour.

"out in the dark, shaking hands"

Dopesick starting, as was expected.

"drifting away from my family towards my foes"

Metaphorical and literal. Leaving home and going to the dope sellers.

"my mother told me you'll reap what you sow"

You cannot escape the consequences of your actions.

"back in my home late at night all alone, I'm flying flying above all my troubles my mind's a gull when I am happy my heart starts to slow"

Opiate hitting brain and CNS. Described perfectly.

"late in the morning I wake all alone, I'm crying crying for all of the people who love me so but when we get sad we know where to go"

Describing the vicious circle...

@primaryring Nailed it. This song and "Never Let Me Down Again" by Depeche Mode are my favorite songs about heroin.

at the end it's supposed to say "fornication" instead of "flirtation"

Drug use. Defintely. Heroin sounds like a good suggestion. Nice Tune.

It's about struggling with doing what you know is right. Obviously, there's drug use involved, and I think, since at the end fornication and adultery are mentioned, there's a problem with meaningless sex being put out there too. Just the problems that we know we have and know they're bad for us, but don't know how to stop.
