Trinity's Crying Lyrics

I love you
I cried on your mother's shoulder
Like a broken hearted soldier
She knew and I knew
What all the tears were for

But weary, exhausted from flames of light (X3)
Trinity's crying (X4)

I love you (X4)
But weary, exhausted from flames of light (X2)
Trinity's crying (X4)

The lyrics should read:

I love you I cried on your mother's shoulder Like a broken hearted soldier She knew and I knew What all the tears were for

Weary exhausted flames of light Weary exhausted flames of light Weary exhausted flames of light

Trinity's crying Trinity's crying Trinity's crying Trinity's crying

I love you, I love you I love you, I love you

Weary exhausted flames of light Weary exhausted flames of light

Trinity's crying Trinity's crying Trinity's crying Trinity's crying

My interpretation is that I think the song in its simplest form is about heartbreak or loss of a loved one. I could possibly be about losing move more because of the 'Like a broken hearted soldier'. Many times when soldiers have return home from war and such things they've found that their wife, husband or girlfriend or boyfriend have found another love. Though as I think about it hidden part about her and her mother knowing but not saying that Trinity is cry's for could be about that Trin had loved someone from afar again maybe the guy or girl broken Trinity's heart without knowing it so she's crying, though these tears are weary exhausted flames of light that always flicker.

I can't say I have been a fan of this song, I usually skip it when listening to The Grey Oceans Album.

I haven't a clue what it's about and the lyrics aren't very in depth

Looking at the words "your mother's shoulder" and "weary exhausted flames of light" make me think that, perhaps, whoever "your" is, died. "She knew and I knew / What all the tears were for" gives a closeness to whatever happened to the both of them. As well, a "Trinity" is a grouping of three, with "Holy Trinity" being the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I think they meant a reference to both (judging from the religious references in their other songs). By this, I mean that, and this is only theory, a trio was broken by sin, or death, and that the Heavens are crying right alongside the speaker. I can't help but wonder if this "your" is just a distancing word used to describe the gap Sierra and Bianca felt towards their brother, Simon, whom I think is the one that molested them as children. If that is the case, then it would make sense that his molestation (a great sin) to them will have severed the ties between the three of them, and thus, broken Trinity.

Add on to the above:

In the end, Simon committed suicide, thus being where the death part comes into play, severing the ties further.

Or perhaps, and this was just a sudden thought, she was only telling "your"'s mother about the molestation, which would explain the line "Like a broken hearted soldier" and still occupy the theme of breaking "Trinity". She would have held in the information of what he was doing, so when she told someone, she just let go. She cried. She was broken hearted, but not from some break-up; from the fact that she was forced into getting together with her brother.

After reading both of your comments and doing my own "editing" with my interpretation of this song and their past, I would say the trinity is about their brother killing himself and breaking the trinity, but they weep that he made that choice to kill himself after it was all out in the open, and how people react to children molesting each other, like they should be hurt, even murdered and couldn't handle the pressure "But weary, exhausted from flames of light". But I think the girls genuinely felt sympathy for their brother and his mistakes and wish he didnt...

Sierra said in an interview that 'alien angels' is what comes to mind when she thinks of 'Trinity's Crying'

I love this song and I think it is about mother earth and what we are doing to her.. she is exhausted, she is crying.
