Beyond Our Suffering Lyrics

bound to learn the hard way
this is the human condition
there is nothing that can be said
to stop us from making mistakes
when i look to myself as a source of ending pain
no matter how many times before i've failed

it seems our problems solve themselves
when we look beyond us to those truly in hell

the more i focus on myself
then the more helpless that i become
so why not erase this point of view?
my suffering is trivial
compared to those who know real agony

it seems our problems solve themselves
when we look beyond us to those truly in hell
it seems our problems solve themselves
when we look beyond our suffering

my trials seem insignificant now

why won't we look beyond us?
why won't we look beyond our despair?
it seems our problems solve themselves
when we look to those truly in hell

personal redemption cannot change the world
unless we lay down our lives for those who still suffer

A very Christian meaning in this song. "when i look to myself as a source of ending pain no matter how many times before i've failed" Gotta love this song...

Yeah this is my favourite song of this album.. Love AILD.

But yes, the song is basically saying stop being self-centred and also, it's not gona get us anywhere.. If we open our eyes we'll see how fortunate we are.

i think this song is pretty obvious..... but basically i think its saying that if you think you have it bad, think of someone whose really struggeling.... like those truly in hell.... and im not sure whether thats supposed to be a metaphor or whether hes literally talking about those in hell.... but we in america have life so easy and if one little thing gets messed up we get all bent out of shape about it but theres always someone who has it worse than you......

Guyya - "i think this song is pretty obvious..... but basically i think its saying that if you think you have it bad, think of someone whose really struggeling."

That's exactly what this song is about and no it's not a metaphor for souls in hell,it's about people with problems that most of us have never had to worry about (living in a 3rd world country, homelessness, starvation, persecution and injustice by their people or their government,no one to listen to them,no one to love them, anyone other then ourselves and our own bullshit)...Think about it for a second....how trivial is some...

Also I think it also has to do with someone always caring about themselves and their problems and never taking the time to look at the problems that others have and finally realizes how trivial his problems are compared to the problems of others in the world and those around him.

yea i was just exploring different interpretations lol

We all make such big deals of the problems we have, but if we take a deeper look, it id NOTHING compared to what others suffer, and they look down sadly upon us because of it. That is my interpretation.
