Ow My Feelings Lyrics
Lost the way
Feel the world below me
Painlessly ascend
Torn away dissolving the life I know
Grasp the light
Feel the glow enfolding
Exaltation
Isolate the answers truth from lies
Loss of faith
The path unravels before me
Unholy day
I'm letting go
Void the past, create the new
Separate the few because I hold ability to lead astray
Now living through every day on the path between the frozen lines
Now no one ever will know about this experience
Will someone for one step back and gaze upon this world with my eyes
Drawn behind the point of view
Seal us from the truth
On our own the fear of life decays
Time alone reveals our fatal aspect of arrogance
In life we not the only ones free from the walls, I'm alive
Lost the way
The path unravels before me
Unholy day, I'm letting go
Through times, these cries distort the view
Hopeless misdirection
We all defy the chance to know
This world is not the one I knew
Holding tight to our beliefs
Awake to what we have become
Feel the world below me
Painlessly ascend
Torn away dissolving the life I know
Grasp the light
Feel the glow enfolding
Exaltation
Isolate the answers truth from lies
The path unravels before me
Unholy day
I'm letting go
Separate the few because I hold ability to lead astray
Now living through every day on the path between the frozen lines
Will someone for one step back and gaze upon this world with my eyes
Seal us from the truth
On our own the fear of life decays
In life we not the only ones free from the walls, I'm alive
The path unravels before me
Unholy day, I'm letting go
Hopeless misdirection
We all defy the chance to know
This world is not the one I knew
Holding tight to our beliefs
Awake to what we have become

Somehow I feel like this is the prequel (maybe the sequel) to "Jetpacks was yes!". In case you didn't know, JWY was about an immortal who outlives his wife, an entire city and eventually the world (and still lives). This sounds like the same idea except more about the character's growing existentialist beliefs.
Time alone reveals our fatal aspect of arrogance In life we're not the only ones free from the walls, I'm alive
Sounds like he's talking about being alive and alone long enough to see how the world became so destroyed.
Void the past, create the new Separate the few because I hold ability to lead astray Now living through every day on the path between the frozen lines
Now no one ever will know about this experience Will someone for one step back and gaze upon this world with my eyes
This is what really convinces me he's living every day and no one will ever know about him and no one can see the world from his perspective.
It could be one of those dumb emo songs about losing faith, but I see periphery as a band that goes a little outside of the box for that type of material.
i think this song is about dying alone and the regrets he has about life
There are a few interpretations I've gotten from this song, personally. My current favorite is that the song is about the struggling in a world disconnected from what many consider to be our true nature of existence and the experience of ego death. There are recurring references throughout the album that paint a picture of spiritual growth and awakening.
"Torn away dissolving the life I know Grasp the light Feel the glow enfolding"
"Through time these cries distort the view Hopeless misdirection We all defy the chance to know This world is not the one I knew Holding tight to our beliefs Awake to what we have become"
I think it also brings to the attention of the listener the distorted and harmful direction of our society.
Periphery has been my favorite band since I discovered them in 2010. Both their musicianship and lyricism always seem to remain relevant to my journey and experiences. As I grow and change so too do the meanings I gain from their songs.
