Epic (Part I) Lyrics

King of diamonds
King of spades
Hades was king of the kingdom of dirt
Miners of mines
Diggers of graves
They bow down to Hades who gave them work
And they bow down to Hades who made them sweat
Who paid them their wages and set them about
Digging and judging and dragging the depths of the earth
To turn its insides out

Singing la la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la
la la la la la la

King of mortar
King of bricks
The river Styx was a river of stones
And Hades laid them high and thick
With a million hands that were not his own
A million feet that fell in line
Stepped in time with Hades step
And a million minds that were just one mind
With stones in rows, stone by stone
Row by row
The rivers rolls on

Singing la la la la la la la
la la la la la la
la la la la la la la
la la la la la la

Cover art for Epic (Part I) lyrics by Bon Iver

River of Styx. just saying

what're these two songs from, btw?

Justin Vernon was featured on Anais Mitchell's album "Hadestown." He sings on all five songs, these are just two of them. I also added "Wedding Song" which was also on this album. It's a pretty good album if you want to check it out.

ooo okay. yeah i've heard Hadestown. dug it a bit. Wait For Me was really good. I dunno if I'd file any of the songs under his stuff, though.

yeah, i know, but there wasn't a page for anais mitchell so i couldn't post it there, and i wasn't sure how to make one for it. so i just put it under bon iver. and i also really like Wait For Me. : )
