Jetpacks Was Yes! Lyrics
These walls of time release
My eyes move like the drift
The cries, they resonate within
The fabric tears before me
Break ties between the kin
Reaching for a way out of this dream
I waste my breath ascending
Fears lead me astray
The past brings them to be
Whats left to carry me...
But a memory
The dream endures these lies
Forever at the edge, left surviving alone
Whats left as I wonder
I've found a world where I am free
Inside that which is truth
The ground upon which I have grown is not the same
The fears, they've fallen away
Presently I've found I am not alone in a world of infinity sewn
Perceive beyond the seam
A soul evolves as one
My eyes move like the drift
The cries, they resonate within
The fabric tears before me
Break ties between the kin
I waste my breath ascending
Fears lead me astray
The past brings them to be
Whats left to carry me...
The dream endures these lies
Forever at the edge, left surviving alone
I've found a world where I am free
Inside that which is truth
The fears, they've fallen away
Presently I've found I am not alone in a world of infinity sewn
A soul evolves as one

I don't know if my interpretation is what's intended, but this song has made its way to an elite group that really connect with me. How I interpret these lyrics is the feeling of being trapped by your past and unable to progress. Almost... wanting to progress, but with things (or people) from the past. From 'The ground upon which I have grown..." seems that the person has gotten past their past (haha) with the knowledge that He is not alone.
The actual meaning of this song (as confirmed by the band) is a story of an immortal being that begins to regret their immortality as they watch the people they love die while they continue on without them. This meaning becomes a lot more apparent if you watch the accompanying video.

The song's lyrics and video concept are about an Immortal Being who starts to regret his immortality as he outlives everything, starting with his loved ones and ending with the planet and even the universe itself as his life is not bound by anything.
Friggin' start reading books on how to conquer fear. You read everything else. You're able to do everything else. How about spending as much time on this as you do on sexual conquests. How about it?
i loooove this song.
i'm surprised periphery is still such an unheard of band. they're gonna be huge.
I don't know if anyone knows this, but this title comes from an episode of Arrested Development entitled "Mr. F", in which the character George senior finds a japanese website that sells backpacks that has the words "Jetpacks was yes!" in big bold letters. Trust me, its true.

I dont know what anyone else thinks, but dont you think this guy has one of the best voices ever?
yeah he's an awesome singer, terrible screamer. But this and letter experiment are AMAZING songs
HOLY SHIT. I just heard the new song version that goes with the music video. how freaking epic, it's really good
I think these guys are fed up with this postmodern shit we live in. Reality seems to be a fabric we create throughout our lives; our fears, our cries, our relationships, our memories are all building blocks of our reality. This fabric can be torn but to find another reality beyond, another fabric, "a world of infinity sewn". It's like a leaf upon a leaf upon a leaf... and when all the leaves have been torn, what's left? Is there a core to find? Yes, "a soul evolves as one." What I discovered is that Periphery wish to revive old myths we seem to have forgotten...
Title is an Arrested Development reference
