Q&A
Linoleum Lyrics
Possessions never meant anything to me
I'm not crazy
Well that's not true, I've got a bed, and a guitar
And a dog named Bob who pisses on my floor
That's right, I've got a floor
So what, so what, so what?
I've got pockets full of Kleenex and lint and holes
Where everything important to me
Just seems to fall right down my leg
And onto the floor
My closest friend, linoleum
Linoleum
Supports my head, gives me something to believe
That's me on the beachside combing the sand
Metal meter in my hand
Sporting a pocket full of change
That's me on the street with a violin under my chin
Playing with a grin, singing gibberish
That's me on the back of the bus
That's me in the cell
That's me inside your head
That's me inside your head
That's me inside your head
I'm not crazy
Well that's not true, I've got a bed, and a guitar
And a dog named Bob who pisses on my floor
That's right, I've got a floor
So what, so what, so what?
I've got pockets full of Kleenex and lint and holes
Where everything important to me
Just seems to fall right down my leg
And onto the floor
My closest friend, linoleum
Linoleum
Supports my head, gives me something to believe
That's me on the beachside combing the sand
Metal meter in my hand
Sporting a pocket full of change
That's me on the street with a violin under my chin
Playing with a grin, singing gibberish
That's me on the back of the bus
That's me in the cell
That's me inside your head
That's me inside your head
That's me inside your head

There's no comments on this one? Wow. Well, this is probably one of the best songs off "99 Songs of Revolution, Vol. 1." Even if it is a cover, Streetlight added their own little twist to the song. It's more reggae now and I completely love it. The drums are amazing. Kalnoky and his back-up singer are amazing and the violins are also a great addition! As far as the song meaning goes, the song was written by NOFX and I'm guessing it was about how possessions are not important and that you should be happy with what you got. Great song. NOFX's version is also very good. I prefer Streetlight's version though.
I always felt like NOFX's version was kind of off because of the tempo and overall sound of the music. It just never seemed to match the words. Streetlight's seems to get everything right though because the melody and words match up perfectly.
