Dyed in the Wool Lyrics
It's so sad for us
When we find ourselves
Giving away, giving away
And it's a shame for us
When we find ourselves
Going to waste, going to waste
So throw away the love that we made.
(I know, I know)
Nothing's going to change that,
Nothing's going to change that hopeless feeling
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't
There's no reason to be here
We should pack up and leave
I have never felt that way before totally alone
There's no reason to leave here
There's no reason to leave
Never seen you act that way before, totally exposed.
As you throw away the love that we made
(I know, I know)
Nothing's going to change that
Nothing's going to change that hopeless feeling
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't
(I know, I know)
The longer it takes, the more it goes to waste
I want to believe you but I can't feel a thing
The more that you get the less you are
Nothing's going to change that helpless feeling
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't...
And I know you can't...
And I know you can't help this feeling I get
When you say you understand and I know you can't.
Oh oh oh oh oh
When we find ourselves
Giving away, giving away
When we find ourselves
Going to waste, going to waste
Nothing's going to change that,
Nothing's going to change that hopeless feeling
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't
We should pack up and leave
I have never felt that way before totally alone
There's no reason to leave
Never seen you act that way before, totally exposed.
As you throw away the love that we made
Nothing's going to change that
Nothing's going to change that hopeless feeling
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't
The longer it takes, the more it goes to waste
I want to believe you but I can't feel a thing
The more that you get the less you are
I get when you say you understand and I know you can't...
And I know you can't...
And I know you can't help this feeling I get
When you say you understand and I know you can't.

I can't stop listening to this song. I listened to the album once through after getting it and now this song is on repeat. Probably because of the lyrical content and how it has hit me, but damn this song is amazing.
I also think it's you understand, not you'll. makes more sense.
this song is one that i really enjoy its one we all can relate to and face in our lives. the questions we face adn realization of those answeres. although we know no one can truly understand us and that is the loneliest thing of all.
It's so sad for us........ .......so throw away the love that we made.
(this is a talking all about life and the way things are and how we should feel about them. isnt it a shame when we fuck up in life and find ourselves sitting in our room at three in the morning with work that needs to be done. in his case hes talking about the times in his life he has felt like that. just wasting time and time we realize that ends quickly. you might as well except it, life, skool.work, love, it sucks. But Oh well thats just how it is)
i know i know and nothing's going to change that hopeless feeling I get when you say you'll understand and I know you can't
(here hes talking about how in life no one can truly grasp us and who we are, how we think, how we feel. he explains how much it sucks whe we get told yeah i know how you feel or i know what you mean. when no one really can.)
There's no reason to be here.......... ......As you throw away the love that we made
(this is a case of call and response, kind of the ramblings of a crazy man, he asks the real question we all ask our selfves. why are we doing what we are doing? no one can know what they are doing is right we always second guesss if this is what we want. then he respnds with we probably wont find the answeres somewhere else its normal to feel scared and second guess life, why would you stop what your doing. then talks about a theme he loves to talk about.opeing up and being vulnerable. does it even matter)
This has to be my favorite Circa Survive song. Probably one of the best at least. I love it. I honestly teared up listening to this the first time. His voice and his words. I found pure joy in it. Pure hopelessness. Pure contradiction. And now I'm done.
I'm right there with you. I love how the verses are so lighthearted, almost joyous...but then they seamlessly move into a much more somber chorus, like hopelessness breaking through a happy facade. I've never been a huge Circa fan, but this song is astounding in its beauty.

Ditto.. it really is amazing. It's so beautiful. I can't stop listening to the acoustic version.
I totally agree with wonderfulmetropolix. This song strikes a chord with me, no pun intended. It's very mellow, and it has a great message to it.
I agree that it is, "you understand". So, this is a reworked version of "The More You Get, the Less You Are", right? Does anyone know why it is called, "Dyed in the Wool"?? Regardless, it is a spectacular song, and I like the opening instrumental (Compendium).
Yeah, compendium really adds to this song. I just wish this album wasn't so mellow. It's hard to jam to this in my car, it's more of a chill album; in my opinion of course.
Losing all creativity
i think this song is about how people feel after theyve done so much for people and they think theyve made dear friends but they realize that theyre "friends" dont know a thing about them. and the love they made was thrown away. theyre exposed for who they really are.
and the part about moving but then saying theres no reason is that he wants to move cause he realizes he has no one, but he also realizes that if he moves he will still have no one so there is no reason to move
