Through The Desert Alone Lyrics
Sadly, I walk around this place on the shells of eggs
My shoulders are cold
I put it off for so long, I put it off
and know I've got to live with what I made
forever
What was stolen from us
now is forever lost
just because we'll never pay the ransom
What was taken from me
I will never regain just because
We'll never pay the ransom
I'll become like the desert wind
and I'll drink all the gin
Shriveled up under desert lights
eaten up in the night
I can't keep this up much longer without
needing more from you
I need more
Wasted with the rhythm
angry at the melody
How did you stay so sweet?
Cause you were my ally once
You were my confidante
i need somebody close
to be close to
forever
What was stolen from us
now is forever lost
just because we'll never pay the ransom
What was taken from me
I will never regain
just because we'll never pay the ransom
just because we'll never pay the ransom
My shoulders are cold
I put it off for so long, I put it off
and know I've got to live with what I made
forever
now is forever lost
just because we'll never pay the ransom
What was taken from me
I will never regain just because
We'll never pay the ransom
and I'll drink all the gin
Shriveled up under desert lights
eaten up in the night
I can't keep this up much longer without
needing more from you
I need more
angry at the melody
How did you stay so sweet?

First line is the best part of the entire album. The rest of the album is NOTHING like On Letting Go or Juturna, which is a little disappointing because the first two albums were spot on.
Well, I am extremely pleased with what they created as you can all hear and enjoy in Blue Sky Noise...I love every second of it. This son though, I read about in AP Magazine is about Anthony Green's wife miscarriage (If I'm not mistaken)..."What was stolen from us now is forever lost...What was taken from me I will never regain" This living thing that was his...is gone and he can never really regain what was close to him and Meredith..."i need[ed] somebody close to be close to forever" A child will always be close to the faher/mother and I think that this is what that means....his child was gonna be someone he would be close to for a "definite" forever and it was gone.
This meaning makes the most sense, I just don't understand what the ransom has to do with this.

yeah the intro and first verse are amazing, if only the rest of the album could've followed in this vain.
I don't know if you guys know anything about music but circa nailed in this album. I always loved them but it always felt like they had this magnifecent sound but coulnd't figure out how to make it work.
well no shit it doesnt sound like on letting go theses songs actually have a drive. for the first time its like circa knows what they are trying to do. Its one of the greates albums of this generation. this song has the same circa feel while actually sounding like real musicians. they didn't "sell out" quite the contrary. They went to people who knew how to get them produce to their potentional.
circa survives knew album blew expectations out of the water. its not boring and repetive spaceyness its real songs, with spacyness in them. notice the difference????
great album
totally agree with you. i feel like blue sky noise is 100 times better than OLG, and though Juturna is still my favourite of the three, BSN definitely sounds more "together"..like they really found themselves as a band, were able to define their sound, and pretty much everything you just said above. definitely a SWEET album..and just saw them live last week, and the new songs translate beautifully on stage.

It's definitely not like Juturana or On Letting Go, but it's still pretty fucking awesome. I read somewhere that Anthony's growth as a guitar player influenced this album a lot. I think his solo stuff definitely influenced this album quite a bit too, it just seems a little more indieish and different to me.
Pretty sure that this one, like Spirit of the Stairwell, is about his wife's miscarriages. "What was stolen from us, now is forever lost". Though I'm not sure about the bit about paying a ransom.
I'm a huge fan of anything Circa and AG... I don't know all the back stories about he and the rest of the band... but this song felt very much like losing a child... my girlfriend, also, miscarried and this song made me think of the devastation that it did to she and I as individuals... and us... which there's no more us... but it wasn't because we didn't love... it's a loss of faith... and we won't pay the ransom for something that shouldn't have been taken from us, not from something we believed so deeply in... fuck that.

Well, for me, this is the best Circa Survive Album, it's just fucking awesome. Diferent, still them, and idk i just feel it alot. If you ask me, i believe this song is about something that happened to AG during the recording of this album. Like... hmm i don't like to mention that, go read his bio or something.
Yeah seriously, what the hell are you guys talking about? I've been a fan since Juturna and this album is fucking amazing.
My favorite of the three. So good.
Seems to me that Circa really regrets switching to a more mainstream label, and they can't make the music they want to anymore. sodidgewse has been saying this in comments on some of the other songs, and I can definitely see that as a consistent them throughout the album.
"What was stolen from us, is now forever lost because we'll never pay the ransom."
Their music was stolen from them, and now they won't (can't) pay the ransom (the massive breach of contract for leaving the label).
Granted, I think Circa has done a fantastic job with Blue Sky Noise. While it's the lesser of their three albums, it is still undoubtedly Circa Survive and sounds fantastic. I really do like it. But man, if it's true, and this ISN'T the album they wanted to make, and it still sounds this good, I REALLY wish we could hear the album they WANTED to make.
<3 Circa Survive
bet you think on letting go is about theyre new record label too huh? AG could see into the future and knew he would be switching labels in a few years and "all i wanted was to be one of your children" was reffering to him wanting to be related to his old record label cause he loved them so much.;) GTFO
