This Shattered Symphony Lyrics
Oh, I'm giving up the one I love
I'll conduct the great disaster
to scar my skin to own this hurt
They offered their hearts
and we tore them apart,
They offered their blood
and we left them so parched
I don't know if I can give you anything you want.
Go on and give me the gun!
Never mind what I've done
They left me no choice,
oh, they left me no choice,
Go on and give me the gun!
Let me blow them open
It's out of my reach,
never mind what they think about me
I don't want to say that with mercy we decay
Converging closer and faster,
does all I touch turn to dust?
And she confessed her love,
only I shut her up
as I took all her words,
and allowed them to rust
I don't know if I'm the man you truly want to love
Go on and give me the gun!
Never mind what I've done
They left me no choice,
oh, they left me no choice,
Go on and give me the gun!
Let me blow them open
It's out of my reach,
never mind what they think about me
Little have they learned anything about me
Meddling eyes that judge mistakes
What awful things they say when backs are turned
and no one's looking.
Go on and give me the gun!
Never mind what I've done
They left me no choice,
oh, they left me no choice,
Go on and give me the gun!
Let me blow them open
it's out of my reach,
nevermind what they think about me

This song is about Dr. Leonard Hoehnberger making the Monstar virus and implanting it within Coheed and Cambria in order to get his wife Pearl back from Wilhelm Ryan. He can't live without his one love (Pearl) so he creates the great disaster (monstar). They (coheed and cambria) offered their hearts, and we tore them apart, is stating his obvious betrayal to the very meaning of creating the KBI in the first place. The chorus is about after he made the virus and gave it to Wilhelm Ryan, Pearl was given a gun to kill her husband for allowing such a destructive virus which could kill the entire Keywork to be traded for her life. She didn't realize however that Hohenberger had implanted the virus in such a way that Ryan couldn't use it right away, and Hohenberger was trying to explain this to Pearl. Second verse is talking about how he silenced Cambria as she was telling coheed that she loved him, and hating himself for taking away their love to save his own.
i think this is when pearl has been brought back to her home by mayo deftinwolf after being tortured and she points a gun at her husband dr.Hohenberger because he gave Wilhelm ryan the mostar virus....hes saying go on and give me the gun, nevermind what ive done theyve left me no choice, because if he didnt give wilhelm ryan the mostar virus he would kill pearl
I agree, I really think most of this album is in Pearl, Leonard, or Ryan's perspective... I think only a couple of the songs are actually form The Knowledge and The Beasts perspective.

Chapter 15 of the book is also called "This Shattered Symphony". In this chapter, Dr. Hohenberger basically commits suicide by cop, attempting to assassinate Mayo Deftinwolf in the middle of a parade. However, I agree with the others that say this song is about what happens just before that, where Pearl returns home after her imprisonment.
I'll CONDUCT the great disaster
I don't wanna say that with MERCY we decay
Only I shut her UP
Thats what i hear at least. Really good track.
"to scar my skin to hold this hurt" instead of "it's starlights gift to hold this hurt"
"does all i touch turn to dust?" instead of "your starlight touch turn to dust"
and i'm not so sure about this one but it might be "miming eyes, they judge mistakes" not sure though
I'm hearing "they judge Mistakes" as well, although i think claudio might be saying "MENDING EYES, they judge mistakes" but who knows?
This song sounds like Coheed's thoughts on killing his children because of the virus.
Impossible... this is the prequel album. Coheed hasn't been tricked yet.

It sounds more like 'Fool, conduct the great disaster'
Or something different, there's no i sound
yah, im guessing coheeds thoughts aswell
I agree with CoandCamFan but who is hoehnberger talking about when he says "let me blow them open" Coheed and Cambria?
