Made Out of Nothing (All That I Am) Lyrics
Nevermind all the lines, I'm coming
and there is no better part of me...you'll see
The darkest light the blind I'll be
I accept that you chose to forget
the horrid thing you made of me, my dear
It is alright...it is so...
The laughing feels so good
but the world misunderstood all I said,
there was no joke in what I meant
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
I've given up on all I love for
an honest moment of clarity
Well I need to feel alright, please let me breathe
In a life I made out of nothing
to cleanse this useless identity
Will you hear all the world in it's whys?
Just wait,
Will the latter half be as good?
Well if only I misunderstood
I weight all this judgment I've been blamed
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
I failed you, I fail
There's no understanding in miracles
when the worst, it always comes true
Ha-ha, I am the nothing you have saved
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
Someone please come shelter me from
all that I am and never again
will I believe the same old story
It eats us like cancer, we're hoping for something
Maybe an answer with all that you've done for me
I'll give you nothing
It eats us like cancer, we're hoping for something
Maybe an answer with all that you've done for me
Made out of nothing

My theory about this song is that it's Pearl contemplating life and everything while being held captive by Wilhelm Ryan. Ryan kept her in a glass box and used all kinds of tactics to try to break her emotionally, and this song illustrates her slowly slipping into madness
"I accept that you chose to forget the horrid thing you made of me, my dear"
Pearl is made to believe that Leonard is to blame for her being captured and that he has forgotten about her. She doesn't accept it at first, but the longer she's held captive, the more she starts to believe it.
"I've given up on all I've loved for An honest moment of clarity Well I need to feel alright, please let me breathe"
On one point, Pearl wants out so badly that she wishes that anyone could take her place, even if it were Leonard or Joseph. She doesn't care if one of her loved ones had to suffer, she would switch places with them in a heartbeat.
"All that I am and never again Will I believe the same old story"
This could be about her resisting and disagreeing the things Wilhelm Ryan tells her about Leonard. She keeps telling herself that she won't believe him, even though deep down she does.
"There's no understanding in miracles When the worst, it always comes true"
This is the most telling part in my opinion. All through the story, Pearl mentions quite a bit about not believing in miracles, especially after Joseph was killed. The situation she is in just strengths her belief.
These are all just my opinions, of course. This might not be the actual interpretation of the song, but that is how I see it. But I definitely suggest reading the "Year of the Black Rainbow" novel if youre a big Coheed and Cambria fan and you can find it on eBay or Amazon. It is fantastic!
I think it's...
"It eats us like cancer we're combing for something, maybe an answer with all that you've done for me"
Great song.
I hear "it is alright/your right it is so" instead of "It is all that it is so"
and as the first line in the chorus
SOMEONE please come shelter me from
and
Ive given up on all I loved for an honest MOMENT of clarity
I'm fairly sure that in the chorus it's 'so pleae come shelter me from', but the so is held as if it had two syllables. You're right on the others though.

I feel, ooh, nothing
is
I Failed... You.... I failed...
But there's nothing
is
I'll give you nothing
I'll wait on this judgment I've been blamed
mayyyyyy be
I'll weigh, oh this judgment I've been blamed
As for the so's, I second the someone bit, but I think there'll be no telling til official release comes out with the way Claud sings. Great job! Thanks for taking this task up, definitely my favorite song from the new album.
I'm almost 100% sure it's 'so' not someone. Just listen, there's no 'one' sound in what he says, it's just an extended 'so'.

Where can I hear this and the other songs from the new album?
i think it may be "it is your right, it is so" not so sure though. and i gotta agree with the "someone" instead of "so in the chorus
I can't see how anyone thinks it's someone, theres no 'some' sound in it. it's just an extended so.

I'm listening through the album now and so far this is my favorite song. It's possibly the Writing Writer talking about his work?
I'm with everyone else on the someone part.
He does elongate the 'so,' which kind of kills the 'me' part, but he definitely says something at the end that makes an 'ne' sound.
Essentially it sounds to me like 'sooone please come shelter me,' understood as 'someone.'
plus 'someone' has the syllables that would make sense with the melody, which Claudio talks about guiding the music:

"The lyrics will help create the foundation of the melody, if that makes any sense. You can hum and do all sorts of things, but without syllables to start guiding and strengthening the melodies, there's nothing there. They all come together at the same time."

I've always thought this was leonards thoughts right before he goes to attempt an assasination on deftinwolf. This isn't one of my theories that I believe to be absolutely true, however.
It's a song about a man who leaves his family and moves across the country because he believed a lie. Was told he was loved and wanted and wasn't. Maybe the other person just could not live with the scar of divorce. Possible upsetting the kids. You know, typical divorce stuff. 51% of us know it, or is it more now?
The man falls to his inner demons and in an attempt to obliterate himself from this world with said demon he cries out for someone. He can't do this himself. Nothing bad about him. Some of us need someone else.
The chorus is the cry to someone as well as himself. The verses are all the rage and anger this person has for the other. Bordering on self hatred. Not bordering, fully immersed in self hatred.
Sound familiar? I hope not. If it does use this song as I did. As a crutch to hopefully help you quit crying for 5 minutes. Beautiful song. Dig the band.
