Kids on the Run Lyrics

Oh meet me when the morning fails on the fields of desire
Oh meet me when I lost my part in the choir of dusk
Where the promise to lead what is right
As we both know how fields will turn white

And know I will never speak of days
Cause I know you wont count them.
No we have never grown a day from the poison we shared
And we're walking our crooked paths home
But will we ever confess what we've done?
Guess we're still kids on the run.

And no we will never be a part of the pictures once taken
When we're feeding fire with the flames til no memories gone
And the cold sky will write us a song
But will we ever confess what we've done?
Guess we're still kids on the run

And the reflections in their eyes
Sure could paint us as killers
Oh, I'll be there.

And til the terror of our time
Could forgive us as lovers
Oh, let's break some hearts

And no I will never speak of ways 'cause I know you wont try them
But all the weapons raining from the sky will be ours to embrace
And the cold sky will write us a song
But will we ever confess what we've done
Guess we're still kids on the run.

I saw an interview with Kristian a few weeks ago and he was talking to about this song he said something along the lines of "I don't really like telling people what my songs are about personally, i like them to make it something special for their self, but it's something that I had to write, I've had to for a while now"

ever since i've heard that and been listening to the song all i can think of is abortion.

"Oh the reflections in their eyes Sure could paint us as killers"

some people of course think abortion is evil, that you're killing a human. this could be what this line is about.

also "oh meet me when the morning fails on the fields of desire" the had sex because it was their desire, yet it failed to be a bright morning because she got pregnant.

"no i will never speak of ways, cause i know you won't try them"

perhaps this is about him trying to persuade her to keep the baby and telling her the other ways they could deal with it ex. adoption or raising it together.

Instead of "And we're walking our crooked backs home" I hear "...we're walking our crooked path home"

Lyrically, probably the best song on the new album. Very Springsteen-esque.

its freaking amazing, heartbreaking, and moving...his best song, easily.

Cover art for Kids on the Run lyrics by Tallest Man on Earth, The

'we have never grown a day from the poison we shared' they both swallowed poison and died hence never grew up so will always be kids on the run. As romeo and juliet is a timeless story. just thought that was a nice little allusion in the poem/song

The line: "And we're walking our crooked backs home" should read.... And we're walking our crooked PATH home.

And I think "til no memories gone" should be SOON ALL MEMORY'S gone"

Lyric Correction

@vociferous It is definitely Path, he uses that word is almost every song!!!!!

Also "And know" should probably be "And NO" each time he sings it

Lyric Correction

'we have never grown a day from the poisin we shared' i believe it is talking about ex lovers who had a passionate but toxic relationship and have never fully moved on.
