Morning Bird Lyrics

How could you
You are the river
Pour out of this life
How could you
You are the morning bird
Who sang me into life every day
Fly away
You are the blood of me
The harvest of my dreams
There's nowhere I can find peace
And the silence won't cease
Nothing's quite how it seems
The ghost of my joy
Won't let me be
If you set me free I will not run
I will not run
I will not run

Cover art for Morning Bird lyrics by Sade

i think it's all about loss and 'mourning' (morning - mourning, see?), in a deep, wide and sorrowful context. painful, raw and real, like a punch in right in the chin.

It seems to me that she could be singing of the death of a child...or the going away of a child

I think this song is about how someone has been betrayed or "let down" by someone they love.

almost like that person has given up on the writer.

"you are the river" "you are the blood of me" i think these relate to how deeply the writer loved this person- so much so that they are going to let them "fly away"

"if you set me free i will not run" i think this means that if the lover can give the writer room to fly then she/he will not resent the lover for leaving anymore.

However, I find this song very sad because I think it show the writer trying to find the strength to leave someone who may not feel that they love the writer anymore.

but we all know love never really dies, and its often when the un-loved leaves for good, the un-lover realises what they have lost. :(
