its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard
We got a minefield of crippled affection
All for the borrowed mirror connection
That's why I'm leaving this spoken detention
I'm a romance addict so that I can confess that
I get world sick every time I take a stand
Well, I get world sick, my love is for my man
We got a lady who's wanting to dance
Men with the maybe looking for endings
And I get world sick every time I take a stand
Yeah, I get world sick, my love is for my man
I'm sick of the self-love, losing the bless me
The exit the roof of the rule of what we'll be
And all the destroyers that never wore dresses
They live for the older, well I'll confess this
I get world sick every time I take a stand
Yeah, I get world sick, my love is for my man
Well, I get world sick every time I take a stand
Yeah, I get world sick, my love is for my man
All for the borrowed mirror connection

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

So basically this guy, the subject of the song, is gay... and he's just criticising the world for all the conservative idealism about the homosexuality.
Correct me if im wrong, but might he not be refering to the church "I'm sick of the self loved loser who blessed me the exit that rules the ruling of what will be" and the church's position in the gay marriage?
Just stumbled into this and curious.

Think Kadway is on the right track. Some rigid religions and far right religious groups believe homosexuality is against god's "plan".

"the exit that rules the ruling of what will be" - leave the church and it's damnation for you, no eternal life.

"all the destroyers that never wore dresses" - ever heard of a female catholic priest?
Oh, so apparently that's a "conservative idea" or "far right".
