Young London Lyrics

I'm not the one to complain of bad dreams
It's like disease but without a life
It's all a scene with the straight directive
That we're all lost and we're stuck in time
We feel alone in a strange blue ocean
And we're all scared as death to die
I'm not the one to admit it's helpless
I have a sense that we will be alright
I wish for peace with electric silence
To keep our hearts beating on our minds
And we will see that we're all connected
And we awake to the tunnel's light

Suit up boys, we're on vacation
With endless stay, and reservation
Saddest girls who will await while
Dying inside, how will they get by?

Suit up boys, let's ride it's the weekend
Get down girls and dance with your best friend
Show yourselves and take what you ask for
Let it go, no fight's on the dance floor

Suit up boys, let's ride is the weekend (Life gets better)
Get down girls and dance with your best friend (Move together)
Show yourselves and take what you ask for (Kiss like flowers)
Let it go, no fight's on the dance floor (Songs get louder)

The night gets better, but wait, so wonderful
They move together and dance so colorful
They kiss like flowers that breathe with pheromones
Songs get louder, it feels so natural

"Suit up boys, we're on vacation With endless day, and reservation Saddest girls who will await while Dying inside, how will they get by?"

im guessing this is about guys going to war

the rest of it is about forgetting your problems and just having fun

That really is what I thought! You see these young men who arent even thirty yet, and they're already risking their lives for their country. Its really about one last night out before almost certain death.

Great song, given Tom Delonge's seeming near-obsession with WWII era lyrics, I think this could be a bit about going off to war, but also picking yourself up again. Not to mention it's one of my favorite A&A songs.

I thought about them coming back from war and enjoying their new lives from horrific days; a new return to normalcy.

This is one of my favorites from the album... I agree with the war interpretations, but I never saw it that way at first.

"...we feel alone in a strange blue ocean and we're all scared as death to die" makes me think of soldiers in boats preparing to storm the beaches during WWII and being afraid of not surviving the battle.

But also in terms of thinking about the song in terms of how it relates to the word "LOVE," the basis of the entire album, it sounds to me like something caused a separation between two people and he senses "...we will be alright, I wish for peace with electric silence, to keep our hearts beating on our minds, and we will see that we're all connected when we awake to the tunnel's light"

The two "Suit up..." sections... The first one, I see as the guys getting ready to go out looking to find the right girl to be with forever "on vacation with endless stay and reservation" and the girls are sad and "dying inside" from being hurt in the past and are just waiting to truly be loved.

The second "Dance with your best friend" part, to me, is just telling the girls to stop going for what they can't have and try and giving things a go with the guys that obviously care about the them. To pick the guy that they can accept for who they are without fighting and trying to change them... "show yourselves and take what you ask for, let it go, no fights on the dance floor"

And the "night gets better", final refrain is just like an anthemic declaration that it was all worth the wait in finding "LOVE"

Just my take...

My Interpretation

I think this song is a really good song.

Right now, with the name of the album, the date of it's release, and its overall sound; I get the feeling it is about picking yourself up when you are down. Dust yourself off, and live. There are so many ways you can feel electric, utilize them. When you can start getting excited about life without love you will inevitably find love when you are not even looking.

Amazing song! And I agree with your Interpretation as well

Yeah, I definitely agree with your interpretation of the song. It's a beautiful song, I think. The lyrics are incredible and I'm in the midst of getting through a break-up and as soon as I heard the song it just made me feel so much more uplifted.

my views on this song are completely different than what anyone is put,so don't make fun.haha.

i think this song is talking about war in a sarcastic way. "Suit up boys, we're on vacation With endless day, and reservation Saddest girls who will await while Dying inside, how will they get by?"

seems like he's sarcastically saying that war is a vacation. i also think it's about the soldiers wifes and girlfriends will eventually "let it go" and forget while the soldiers are still out fighting for their lives.

Reading it over it seems like that is the story which is presented. Perhaps I am more critical though. Being a musician though, I find that song meanings are generally fairly broad fora reason.

Glad you posted :)

Just wanted to say that I think the second chorus is :

"Suit up boys, LETS ride ITS the weekend Get down girls and dance with your best friend Show yourselves and take what you ask for Let it go, NO fights on the dance floor"

To me, the songs about war and peace. I feel the chorus is a reference to war and the woman waiting at home, 'saddest girls, who will await while dying inside'. whereas the second chorus 'suit up boys thats right its the weekend' is a reference to peace and how it should be. The woman should be dancing not waiting at home. The fights on the dance floor, not against each other with guns.

I think you have hit that right on the head. i think Tom is trying to put across the message that peace and love are the right way to go.
