Final Exit Lyrics

"It's quite an experience
to hold the hand of someone
as they move
from living to dead."

"Final Exit...
The practicalities
of self-deliverance"

Final Exit

Your Life no longer
has any value
Let them tell you what your
own life is worth

There is no compassion
as life fades away
This self deliverance the choice
you have made

Contemplate your last breath
As you see the face of death
Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath

Final Exit

The pain in your life
I cannot perceive
Crimes of humanity
I see and believe

Contemplate your last breath
As you see the face of death
Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

"It's quite an experience
to hold the hand of someone
as they move
from living to dead."

Like the knife
that cuts through me
Stabbing uncertainty
It bleeds my life I know
Draining my heart and soul...

Like the knife
that cuts through me
Stabbing uncertainty
It bleeds my life I know
Draining my heart and soul...
my soul, my soul, my soul...

(goodbye, goodbye...)

Contemplate your last breath
Breath, slowly breath

Goodbye, goodbye...

I think the lyrics speak for themselves and there is no particular hidden meaning. Would say that it deffinatley draws a parrallell to Ressurection, maybe not lyrically but I think the two of them do have some sort of connection.

They also seem to be playing the two of them next to each other on this live tour, going to the Garage in Glasgow tonight to see them, setlist from the manchester show looks really good, really hope they play this song.

I think this and powershifter are the best on the album.

This is a beautiful song.

To add to this song it should be known that the quote

"Final Exit... The practicalities of self-deliverance"

Is directly from this book http://www.finalexit.org/ergo-store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=201

I could be way off but this song is certainly from my view point about suicide. Not sure if it's about assisted suicide tho.

The indications showing that it could be assisted suicide would be the quote in the middle of the song "It's quite an experience to hold the hand of someone as they move from living to dead."

As that being the voice of the person doing the action. It's a very powerful song and I could see it having a very heavy meaning for many outside of the concept.

"it's quite an experience to hold the hand of someone as they move from living to dead" does indeed come from a book by journalist Derek Humphry. The full title is "Final Exit: The Art of Self-Deliverence from a Terminal Illness". So the song IS, in fact, about assisted suicide and the lyrics say as much.

not really a meaning but more of a theory: to connect with the assisted suicide speculation, i think why the outro is so long is because you died; you're dead. When you're dying, your senses fade away. One of the last senses to go, is hearing. We are hearing our life fading away.

im not good at theorizing but i wanted to share that.
