Safer to Hate Her Lyrics

And too much, much is never enough
I had you and I gave you up
And no, I don't know where my mind where was for months
I woke up, I cashed in all of my luck
It walked in hand with your trust
And everybody was kissing fire
And we all got burned

It'd be safer to hate her
Than love her and lose her
It'd be safer to hate her all around

Caught you having a laugh
Did you catch me have the last?
And I've been smiling like this for days
Just to make up for my mistakes
In the dark, I watch everyone disappear
And I'm beginning to let myself down
And I'm pushing everyone that was in, out

It'd be safer to hate her
Than love her and lose her
It'd be safer to hate her all around

And nobody knows what it's like
When we die on the inside
And nobody knows what it's like
To be one of a kind

When we die, do we feel alive?
When we die, do we feel alive?

It'd be safer to hate her
Than love her and lose her
It'd be safer to hate her all around

And nobody knows what it's like
When we die on the inside
And nobody knows

I'm guessing about him getting with her, everyone disagreeing with it and they were right about her and he regrets it

This song is fairly simple. Its about josh and his ex of 18 months and how she cheated on him forcing him to leave. The song is part of his thoughts on it all.

"And too much, much is never enough..."

he tried his best but its not enough for her.

"It'd be safer to hate her Than love her and lose her It'd be safer to hate her all around"

It'd be easier for him to be bitter about it and deny the truth, that he cares and still has feelings for her.

"Caught you having a laugh Did you catch me have the last? And I've been smiling like this for days Just to make up for my mistakes In the dark, I watch everyone disappear And I'm beginning to let myself down And I'm pushing everyone that was in, out"

he sees she's moving on and he's acting like it doesn't phase him, when of course it does. Later he can't help but to sit and dwell on everything, and he feels sorry for himself. He's cornering himself into a state of seclusion in which he's so far gone that the people that matter the most can't reach him anymore.

"And nobody knows what it's like When we die on the inside And nobody knows what it's like To be one of a kind"

He's having an emotional crises. He feels an inner pain that he feels nobody can relate too, even if they've gone through something of the same nature because they aren't him, they don't feel, respond, or mentally perceive things as he does. He feels he is the last of a dying breed, Genuine and Faithful.

"When we die, do we feel alive?"

This is the iffy part of it all. He may be considering suicide as a easy way out, but i seriously doubt it. I believe he's speaking once more on an emotional level. She took a part of him that may never come back leaving him not only scarred but crushed. He's felt pain but never at this level. What he's saying is when a lose a part of yourself the feelings are so intense that you know they are real. They give him a feeling he's never known but one i think on the inside many of us secretly long for. A Beautiful Letdown.

That's how i see everything but everyone is entitled to their own opinions and interpretations but that's what i got out of it as a student and 16 year old vocalist/songwriter. I'm new to this so please reply and give me your thoughts. :)

Song Meaning

thats quite good and literal, i'm no more qualified than you are to comment on the meaning of the lyrics and to be honest you might be right considering that it's all linked back to his past relationship. I just have a few ideas that spring to my mind when i listen to this song. I personally find it to be more bitter and about regret. Almost as if saying that he wishes that he had hated her rather than loved her because it would have been 'safer'. Obviously there was a lot of pain in the break up which is making...
