Something Beautiful Lyrics
I turned that mans first born to sand
In fact, that's how you have that castle
That you dreamed of, that you wanted
I am here to fix everything.
I took your toothy grin, and left a patch of skin.
I took her batting lashes, changed them from blonde to ashes.
I took the boy with the giant head, and I made his body smaller and his neck too thin.
I took that tongue of that annoying neighbor child, yes, I split it down the middle, let it bleed there for a while.
You are so small, she said...
You are so small.
Hey, while you were out there serving wine
I was up here in the balcony, turning faces white, I said
Hey, while you were out there kissing babies
I was luring kids with lollypops, and now they're pushing daisies.
You are so small.
You will not be heard from for a long time
You will not be found with your rightful hands or eyes
When your mother finds you, you won't believe her cries
Wish the child gone missing had been the child who died.
Hey, you, I can be a miracle man too
Hey, you, I can change everything.
Hey, you, I can be a miracle man too
Hey, you, I can fix everyone.
I turned that mans trophy wife to brass
He'd barely notice a difference.
I taught him she served us no fucking purpose.
I am here to fix everyone.
"Goddamn," you might say.
"Quite the talent," I'd say.
Temper, temper.
Patience, patience.
Don't change me into...
You will not be heard from for a long time
I will be around because, fear will never die
And if they should find you, it'd be a sight to see.
A mass of flesh and muscle, a pile of pulp and teeth.
I am finally a kingdom.
Make use of all the skills that you once told me I had
Took a town of some brains, but mostly fat, and turned them to something beautiful.
In fact, that's how you have that castle

I think this is the best version of these lyrics. From the actual liner notes?

I still think he says " I am finally a king, dad" because the next line, refering to someone teaching him skills. But maybe I'm wrong. Amazing song no matter what

I'm not sure about "I turned that mans first born to sin in fact its now you'll ever pass off"
but I think it may be "I turned that mans first born to sand Hey fascist now you have a castle."
"You are so smart, she said" I think "smart" might be "smug" and "You are so smart" I think "smart" is "small"
"Wish the shock i missang in a child who died??" is "Wish the child gone missing, and then ??? died"
pretty sure that "I turned that mans stroking white to brass " is "I turned that mans trophy wife to brass."
"Quite detailing i'd say " I think is "Quite the talent I'd say"
"I will be around because, he will never die" I think "he" is "fear"
"a pile of all front teeth ???" is "A pile of pulp and teeth"
"I am finally a kingdom (kingder)?? may you still fall all the skill that you once told i have ??" is "I am finally a king, dad made use of all the scales that you once told me I had"
Nah, nah, nah.
Nah, nah, nah.

Somebody want to clue me in on what this is about?
I think this song is amazing first of all. But the song is about finding what your good at and doing that.

The person in who this song is supposed to depict is someone who basically kills people. He goes on to describe how he fixes people (possibly by cutting them up, or even re-arranging body parts. While obviously killing people is frowned upon, it's what the narrator is good at. He goes on to say the other person (possibly a parent/lover/friend) has basically turned a blind eye to his acts. (Hey, while you were out there serving wine/ I was...

This song is the perfect contrast of serene music/lyrics along with utterly morbid lyrics. This is pure gold. I'm so happy I've found orbs, and so happy I went to their first show in NY
This song is about being the brother of Jesus. That's what the vocalist says.

This song is about being the brother of the Christ figure. Nothing you do can ever be good enough to compare to him, so you choose to stand out by doing really bad things. I'm not gonna lie, it would be so fun to just go around and turn people into fucked up monsters.
Still a few mistakes, luckily I have the lyric book, so I'll write it out for you guys.
I turned that man's first born to sand. Hey fascist now you can have that castle that you dreamed of, that you wanted, I'm here to fix everything. I took your toothy grin and left a patch of skin.
I took her batting lashes, changed her from blonde to ashes. I took that boy with the giant head, and made his body smaller and his neck too thin. I took the tongue of that annoying neighbor child. Split it down let it bleed there for a while "You are so small," she said. "You are so small."
Hey! While you were out there serving wine. Well I was up here on the balcony turning kids to swine. Hey! While you were out there kissing babies, I was luring kids with lollipops and now they're pushing daisies.
You will not be heard from for a long time. You will not be found with your rightful hands or eyes. When your mother finds you, you won't believe her cries. They'll wish the child gone missing would be the child who died.
Hey you! I can be a miracle man too! Hey you! I can change everything. Hey you! I can be a miracle man too! Hey you! I can fix everyone.
I turned that man's trophy wife to brass. He barely noticed the difference. To him she served the same basic purpose. (probably a typo, as it's written puspose, but I decided it must be purpose...) I'm here to fix everyone!
Oh oh god damned you might say. Oh oh Quite the talent I'd say.
Temper! Temper! With half an alligator's smile. she said to me "no!" Patience! Patience! her scaled and olive face cracked open for me and pleaded... "Don't change me into this!" (Hey you! I can be a miracle man too. I'll make you into anything. Hey you! I can be a god of all sorts too. it's true I can save anyone.
Hey you! I'm over here with the magic hands. I'm turning children to mules again. hey you! im over here with a victor's grin I'm turning teens into table scraps.)
You will not be heard from for a long time and I will be around because fear will never die and if they should find you, you'll be a sight to see. A mess of flesh and muscle oh! A pile of pulp and teeth. I'm finally a king dad.
I made use of all the skills that you once told me I had. I took a town of some brains but mostly fat and turned them into something beautiful...
And adding to the thought of christ's brother... I always thought this song was about how parents who never thought their kids were special so the children ended up turning themselves into nothing great because of their low self confidence. That's how I intrepreted it. And the metaphorical meaning of the monsters has to do with how we end up doing the same thing to our children when we "grow up". Its not much about what he does its more about his parents accepting him as a gift with all that he has to offer to the world, and they don't, so he ends up being a mess.
Wow, again bravo!
Wow, again bravo!
I always took this song to be a sort of melancholy satire about how people get totally locked up in everything material and superficial. A dad sacrifices his son for a castle, a man has a wife just for appearances. I take the last line as: we all have flaws and we're all ugly in some way or another so we need to accept it rather than try to change it and in the process lose sight of oneself.
