Dream Oblivion Lyrics
He takes a stand
And looks his enemy in the eye
I have the upper hand
This ends on my terms
I challenge nonexistence
Every single day
The end of my end of freedom
End of everything
This goes no further
A most violent event
Praise individuality
It turns on your shadow
And ever-stained light
That pulls ungrateful eyes (maybe lies)
Attached to the black song
In dream oblivion
We gaze upwards
And stare into a lie
This is the last time
I am now done with this
I'm carried by nothing
Every single day
The end of my end of freedom
End of everything
The end of everything
Now in reality unend
The fall of all morality
Attached to the black song
In ever-stained light
That pulls on desperate eyes (maybe lies)
Attached to the black song
In dream oblivion
The end of faith and of meaning
End of everything
A most violent event
In dream oblivion
And looks his enemy in the eye
This ends on my terms
I challenge nonexistence
Every single day
End of everything
This goes no further
A most violent event
Praise individuality
It turns on your shadow
And ever-stained light
That pulls ungrateful eyes (maybe lies)
Attached to the black song
In dream oblivion
And stare into a lie
This is the last time
I am now done with this
I'm carried by nothing
Every single day
End of everything
The end of everything
The fall of all morality
Attached to the black song
In ever-stained light
That pulls on desperate eyes (maybe lies)
Attached to the black song
In dream oblivion
End of everything
A most violent event
In dream oblivion

Mikael Stanne:
According to this song, our dreams and subconsciousness are the key to what's going to happen in the future. Loss, grief and death are the main subjects of the album and Dream Oblivion reproduces a long dream - it's not so much a metaphor for death, as it is for an obsessive feeling of doom. You are having a dream of nightmarish pictures, until you finally realize, that you're actually seeing the future.

Hmmm, I take my words back. I just got the album in better quality and I can clearly hear "Looks the enemy in the eye". Also in the booklet it says "enemy" so.
So what's this song about? Maybe the rationalist-fatalist-materialist comes out...again? We live in dream oblivion?
Seems to me a song about not taking someone's shit anymore.
