Out to Pasture Lyrics

Out to Pasture

Like a worm, boring through, cinders and rock and ash
I think I need a broom, to sweep away the day
Cleanse of the shame were in, I'm in
Like a stray, with the mange, worms and lice and matted
Think I need to bathe, to wash away the day
Cleanse us of the palate rid me of the taste

You keep leading me, you keep driving me
You keep pushing me out to pasture to graze
Cant keep strangling, cant keep ignoring me
Cant keep choking me, climbing the clock tower
You keep telling us, you keep shoving us
You keep forcing us out to pasture to graze
You stopped listening, you stopped listening
You stopped hearing me, so I'm loading my gun

Like a bum, sifting through, dumpsters
Trash and garbage, think I need some food
Ive starved all day, cleanse us of the hunger were in, I'm in
Like a snake sliding through, sand and dirt and desert, I think I need a tomb
To blacken out the day, veil me from the sunlight, keep me in my place

You keep leading me, you keep driving me
You keep pushing me out to pasture to graze
Cant keep strangling, cant keep ignoring me
Cant keep choking me, climbing the clock tower
You keep telling us, you keep shoving us
You keep forcing us out to pasture to graze
You stopped listening, you stopped listening
You stopped hearing me, so I'm loading my gun

It seems to me, there are so some many things
They dont want to share now doesnt that seem strange?
It seems to me, its all for one but doesnt it seem strange?
When the ones for none, not you, not me, no one

Doesnt it seem strange that we dont know a thing
Doesnt it feel the same as the cattle out to graze
Dont ya think its strange, that we cant find our way
Dont you feel the same
Doesnt it seem strange, that we dont know a thing
Doesnt it feel the same as the cattle out to graze
Dont you think its strange that we cant find our way
Dont you feel the same

You keep leading me, you keep driving me
You keep pushing me out to pasture to graze
Cant keep strangling, cant keep ignoring me
Cant keep choking me, climbing the clock tower
You keep telling us, you keep shoving us
You keep forcing us out to pasture to graze
You stopped listening, you stopped listening
You stopped hearing me, so I'm loading my gun

To me, this song is about the control of information. Do any of us really know that anything we've been told about anything is true, or do we just accept what's been fed to us from teachers and parents and the news and the government? We're just like cattle put out to graze and chew on the cud of information that's been fed to us, but we don't really know what's true and what's bull shit. To me, this is the best song on this album, which was overall kinda weak for Mudvayne.

My Interpretation

@longhairedcountryboy while I agree that this is the best song on the album, I would also argue that it is one of Mudvayne's best songs ever. Also, after a few listens, I can see why this album is Self-Titled. It displays all of Mudvayne's intricacies in stride; the radio friendly material is good, and the rest is a mindfuck.

"Out to Pasture" is a jaw-dropper, for me! Never heard a song like it.

Such an intricate and precise song of Mudvaynes. The pacing of it is brilliant too.

Shows how talented the band really are.

this song is about a mentally retared child being raised out in a pasture around alot of cows.this child doesnt speak only mimics the sounds of the cows and survives off milk and grass.

your a dumb ass.

No shit. Every comment you made about a song is stupid as hell. Save yourself and stop talking

and where the fuck did you hear that? and if thats true all of us are that "mentally retarded child"
