Vessels Lyrics
Honest and wild You know you is
Luminous and distant I can’t say
And I recall your arms out Like a child
Begging for surrender as the black sky swelled with fire
You never know the blameless dreamless heart
Weak and weary guarded above all
And I recall a gaze that never rests
Upon the broken vessels you to fortunate to mend
Luminous and distant I can’t say
And I recall your arms out Like a child
Begging for surrender as the black sky swelled with fire
Weak and weary guarded above all
And I recall a gaze that never rests
Upon the broken vessels you to fortunate to mend

This is truly a great song... I can't understand why it isn't getting more attention. Quite depressing, though; reminds me of an apocalypse.
I think this song is to do with kabbalah, according to this there are ten vessels that contain god's light in the Serifot. As a result of a cosmic catastrophe the vessels become overloaded and are shattered thus pouring forth emmenences of god into the world. Significantly for Kabbalist is that if all of the vessels are shattered the univers is plunged into utter chaos, as it is the three highest vessels, representing wisdom, will and understanding remain. Judging from some of Tillman's other works and all of the occult imagery on his album covers along with his words on conventional...

Significantly for Kabbalist is that if all of the vessels are shattered the univers is plunged into utter chaos, as it is the three highest vessels, representing wisdom, will and understanding remain. Judging from some of Tillman's other works and all of the occult imagery on his album covers along with his words on conventional religions i would suggest that this is what this song purports too. The breaking of the vessels can also symbolize a fresh start and a clearing away of old structures that we equate with what is a civilised life.
@jesusrice I agree. It's a great song. Sad and beautiful, really.
