I'm listenin to this as i write... feeling the flow of words and lettin the story unfold in my head....

she loves him...i'm seeing some sort of reason why she can't be with him... he's forbidden fruit but she NEEDS him... she wants him to know that she knows he's scared and she is too... but if he asks her to be his she will stand beside him thru any consequences that they may face... "if you ask me i'm ready"...

she asks him why wud yu want to give up when we're not even sure how people will react... and yu always have to feel the low before yu can feel the highs in life... "If we do the unthinkable will it make us look crazy Or would it be so beautiful either way?"...she wants him to see that he doesn't know how it will turn out and that he wants him to take a chance on them...

I don't think this has to do with an affair at all... this song says nothing about leaving the one they're with to be with another.

I think this song is really for her parents and for anyone going through a struggle because society is putting a strain on their relationship... If you seen the music video you know that the situation was an interracial couple trying to be together, which parallels to her parents situation, and was probably an unthinkable decision considering the time period they would have gotten together.

Back then and now it's still hard for some couples to be in an interracial relationship without someone interfering, and it takes a lot of love and effort to go through it and not care what anyone thinks... it would have to be that unbearable wanting for someone, that Alicia describes, that would make a person follow through.

But this song, in general, is meant for any relationship issue... interracial, same sex, inter-religious, age difference, anything society might call out of the ordinary.

All I know is that the song is beautiful, the video is beautiful, and it makes my heart melt every time!!!

I love the chorus!

I like how Drake is apart of this song, but doesn't overtake it. The beat in the background is definitely him...but it adds a nice flow to the song.

What I get from this song is:

2 people that have been messing around - everything is going so good but they are not in a commited relationship for whatever reason. They both have been trying to ignore the feelings they have for each other and something is holding one or both of them back.

I think temptation and leelee have it dead on...but I love temptations explanation tho =]. So ya it is basically about finally making that move to be with that unattained love. Obviously she is ready and she know she deserve this man..and she can't handle waiting anymore its driving her mad

i definately think it sounds like a love song about taking a relationship to a new level or making it more serious... but i think theres a little more to it that isnt so obvious. i think its about an affair, or two people who are in relationships and are about to "do the unthinkable". Who's gunna make the first move? Shes ready to take that leap. The temptation is there, "its impossible to ignore, and i cant take it". It sounds like there is some serious sexual tension between two people who want to be together but shouldnt.

When I first heard this song I literally got the tingles! I honestly thing this song is about being so deeply in love with someone and everything feeling so right. She's saying if you ask me I'm ready. Ready for the next step which I think is Marriage. Do the unthinkable would it make us look crazy ... or would it be so beautiful.. either way I'm saying if you "ask me" I'm ready!! Time is only wasting so why wait for eventually!! I don't think it's about having an affair or messing around.. infact I think it's the complete opposite. She's confessing her love to this man..basically saying Let's do this, we got what it takes .... you say it's right.. I know it's right..Let's Get Married!!
