Across The Line Lyrics
In this desert, in darkness
Lying with the gun across his chest
Pretending his heartless
As the fire flashes in the sky
He was fragile and frozen
When the bullet took away his friend
His pulling his weapons to aside
Loading it full of his goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
His pulling his weapons to aside
Loading it full of his goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
Sweating and shaking
Lying with her hands across her chest
She wakes with her cravings
As the fire flashes in her eye
She was fragile and frozen
When the needle took away her friend
But now she's somehow more broken
She's pulling her weapons to aside
Loading it full of her goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
She's pulling her weapons to aside
Loading it full of her goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
With every battle his choosing
With every bye his loosing
His enemy is not far behind
With every promise she's broken
With every lie she's spoken
Her enemy's not far behind
It's your time
It's your time
It's your time
It's your time
His pulling his weapons to aside
Loading it full of his goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
She's pulling her weapons to aside
Loading it full of her goodbyes
Holding an enemy across the line
With every battle his choosing
With every bye his loosing
His enemy is not far behind
With every promise she's broken
With every lie she's spoken

In my opinion, this song is about these people's friends dying by suicide/drugs.
"He was fragile and frozen When the bullet took away his friend" Maybe they were close friends, and the guy who lost his friend now feels hopeless and lonely, like he has no one.
"She was fragile and frozen When the needle took away her friend" It seems as though the girls friend was a heroin addict.
As a result of the deaths, both people are feeling suicidal.
"She/He's pulling his/her weapon to his/her side Loading it full of his/her goodbyes"
Now that their friends have died, they are now suicidal and their method of suicide is shooting themselves. By saying their side, I believe they're referring to the side of their heads. The enemy across the line is the suicide, yes that sounds weird. But I think its the suicide because they went across the line by taking their own lives.
awesome track!!! i can really relate to this
ive listened to it like 100 times already.
I disagree, josh154675... This "enemy" is probably from an internal struggle... It could be talking about how they're "loading it full of their goodbyes", meaning goodbyes to their families and friends, about to take their own lives... some people might not get that. I admit I didn't take it that way the first time...
ceases to amaze i meant...lol im stupid. and yeah...songs can have lots of different meanings. take it however you want. thats awesome.

Woaw, I haven't heard this yet! o0
The lyrics seem cool enough. Anyone got a link to where I can cownload that? The "Send [Song name] Ringtone to your Cell" link doesn't work - atleast the site it links to has issues involving the varyfication code... -_-
It sounds like the song is talking about people in general who've been through trauma and are trying their best to keep sane, and possibly from killing themselves.
This is probably one of my favorite Linkin Park songs because of the personal meaning to me. It reminds me of a very traumatic experience that me and four of my friends went through...
This song tells the story of two people, a man at war and a women with drug issues. To both of them, the enemy is death; the man in battle and the women to her overdoses. Both repose their lives are coming to an end and they say their good-byes while holding their enemy, death, across the line from them. In the end, their time's up.
