Ring Ring Lyrics

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart
Sixteen six, six, six and I know the part
You are the river flow, and we can never know
We're just the weather man, you make the wind blow.

Keep thinking about every straight face, yes
Wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces
What about them? I'm all about them
Six such straight A's cut 'em in the bathroom.

So this is it then, you're here to win friends
Click, click, saddle up, see you on the moon then
And all alone friend, pick up the phone then
Ring, ring, call them up, tell them about the new trends
So this is it then, you're here to win friends
Click, click, saddle up, see you on the moon then
And all alone friend, pick up the phone then
Ring, ring, call them up, tell them about the new trends.

Have a heart, have a heart, have a heart
Sixteen six, six, six and you fall apart
You form a tarot pack and I'm aware of that
But we could fist fight drunk like the Parent Trap

Keep thinking about every straight face, yes
Wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces
We never blink see, and you can see me
We fell asleep in the middle of a fury.

Well done, really!

There are a few things I might contest, but i have only heard their songs in poor or live quality. I tried to watch Alexis Krauss' mouth moving on this video when i listened to the song, so hopefully I can help you out a bit!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrjueHZpmWQ

line 2: instead of "like the pentagon" it's something like "and I know the part" or something "apart"

lines 3-6: switch the "we"s and "you"s. It should be "YOU are the river flow, and WE can never know. WE'RE just the weathermen; YOU make the wind blow"

line 11: this one is hard, i think the first word is actually "sick" not "six" and ends with "is" because of the next line.

line 12: "cut UP in the bathroom" instead of "'em"

Line 14: "friends" should be "friend" singular

line 16: I don't think it's "You're all alone, friend?" (watch video at 1:06)

line 17: if the above is correct, then "pick up their phones then" should be (and sounds like) "pick up the phone then"

The rest of the song repeats the previous verses, so there you go! Great song!

SORRY, typo: LINE 16- i meant to say I don't think its "And all our old friends", i think it IS "you're all alone, friend?"

Thanks, I'll check more of these out when I've got a bit of time next week. If you'd like the studio version of this song, which I've been working off, I'd be happy to provide it. They play it differently live--at least they did when I saw them (specifically the "pentagon" part, & lines 3-6, which I am reasonably sure are correct). I really appreciate the corrections & when I have time to sit down & listen to the song about 10 times, I'll fix it up.

this seems to be the same version as what I've been working with: http://thumbswithhands.tumblr.com/post/273880669/sleigh-bells-ring-ring-yeah-these-guys-are-pretty

Lyric Correction

it seems this is now called "Rill Rill" for some reason.

Yeah, it spread on the internet like that, then Sleigh Bells decided last minute to change to that, no real reason.

This song is about high school experiences. The lead singer used to be a teacher. I hope I just blew your mind.

google 16666. There's an astroid belt called 16666 liroma. It kinda sounds like she says liroma. No idea what it means though.

I think I read from Time that she either is or was a school teacher at some point, which actually gave me a predisposed bias to her interpretations. Soon as I heard braces I thought this song pertained perhaps to some of her observations. I initially thought it was middle school but after reading the lyrics it must be high school.

I think the song has a lot to do with social development, finding a purpose, or the awkward realizations / transitions in mind set growing up.

Making friends, growing apart then catching up. Ultimately an almost irrelevant cycle. Is the purpose of school or life to make friends? or make friends that you will grow apart from and it's just another page you can look back at later in life? I think this song is leading to a message along those lines.

Great song, any clue as to what it means? The "sixteen six six six" line is confusing me.

we form a terror pack and i'm aware of that

we never we never blink see and you can see me we fell asleep in the middle of the fury

I think this song is about the pressures of late high school, the feeling of being left out but knowing you are probably on the right track.

"sixteen six six six like the pentagon" being sixteen is like being in hell?

"wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces" the juxtaposition between "we never see" and "what about them" - popular opinion vs. the protaganists opinion?

"we are the river flow and you can never know you're just a weatherman we make the wind blow" You may be talking trash now but the protaganist knows whats up, and isn't that worried about their future path

Also the whole ring ring refrain tends to indicate that the protaginist knows something more than the others.

odk thats what i get out of it

My Interpretation

i think the line is "we fell asleep in the middle of the theory," but maybe that's just wishful thinking...

Okay this might be totally wrong, but this part makes me think about sexuality:

"wonder what your boyfriend thinks about your braces what about them I'm all about them"

You know, she's trying to give her friend the hint that she's all about her in a more-than-friends way :)

Like I said I probably jumped to a conclusion, but hey, it works for me. I'm biased because of my own sexuality and tend to relate lyrics to that a lot, haha.

My Interpretation

In a recient interview, they have confirmed that the song's title has now been changed to Rill Rill, as seen on the album.

Yes, this is true. Someone incorrectly refered to it as "Rill, Rill" and then a radio station said they didn't know what the correct title was. It escalated. They thought it was funny/ironic hence the new title.
