Graze Lyrics

Let me begin
Feels good 'cause it's early
Ease open my eyes
And let light in

Some ideas are brewing
The radio abides
With flying string
Old ideas worth doing
Are taking their time

Fine
Let's not hurry
It's our morning
(Spread out)
Let's not worry
It's our morning
(Spread out)

How does a band
Turn into such a thing
If I had a hand
What would you say about
What's in my face
That warrants all this sass
And to have a band
That cracks the point of fame
(To be in the city)
Why does a band make me
Less settled in
Rounding up my friends,
We might not feel so bad
(To be in the city)
Once in a while
I'll think of you to smile
Some daydreams marked
By many little strikes out
(To be in the city)

(Let me begin)

Comfort, comfort
Why do you run for it?
Why can't you keep doing
What you're supposed to do?

Why can't I reach you?
When I most need you
You're at the beach and
I'm in some strange bed

Comfort, comfort
Why do you run for it?
Why can't you keep doing
What you're supposed to do?

Why do you have to go?
Why do you have to go?
I'm in the dark unknown
And you're staying home

(Let me begin)

This whole song is fantastic. Instead of 0-3min being going to sleep, and the rest waking up, i think the whole thing is like waking up. Even the lyrics give this impression "feels good cuz it's early". It's just like the first half is the semi-hypnotic state when you just wake up, gently rousing you, catching your attention in small, subtle tones. This is all in preparation for the last half, when you can finally allow your blood to flow, your heart to race, and your mind to think.

The lyrics are just wonderful, too "Comfort, comfort Why do you run for it? Why can't you keep doing What you're supposed to do?"

That being said, a great start to an awesome EP.

they (or at least Panda Bear) have a lot to say about music and being in a band. That bit here in the first part reminds me of the song from Person Pitch where he's criticizing people who suck up his music that he works hard to make and act like they are cool for vicariously using something else as THEIR identity.

Interesting stuff, they are just perfect at making music- and all the baggage that comes with it. I like this EP best since Feels so they def. still have it!

I feel like it's about starting over. I love the beginning because it's so theatrical and dramatic. I feel like MPP is about embracing your surroundings, and this album is about embracing yourself. But that's just what I found.

Yes, very theatrical. Reminded me straight away of a song you would hear in a musical. And the second half, well, you don't expect it, but the two parts are brilliant together. I love that they keep re-inventing themselves.

the pan flute part is amazing, the entire song is amazing (like so many other anco songs) and it's about struggling with their partner's tendency to be escapists and seek comfort from their problems, leaving them with no one to lean on for support. they sleep in a strange bed because they are both isolated and actually in another physical place (being in a band means he travels a lot and is away from them).

@kaweenuh great interpretation

3:00 sounds almost like a Pan Flute group or something.

Get the feeling of being isolated from someone or something that is out of reach.

It's a sample of gheorghe zamfir, a romanian pan flute player. So it is in a way! : )

ah word. good looks on the sample

The first time I heard this EP was also the first time I dropped acid. One of the most amazing experiences of my life.

"Comfort, comfort Why do you run for it? Why can't you keep doing What you're supposed to do?" I think this part of the song is about is comfort as an end, and everything else as a means to reach this end. Everything we do is about seeking comfort and moving away from uncomfortable situations. Humans seek pleasure and avoid pain; we seek comfort and avoid discomfort.
