This song is about a man who was in love with a girl when they were younger. The line "I was the home you once tried to escape" makes me think she had an unhappy childhood/adolescence (maybe abused) and he reminded her of it. Of course, she got addicted to drugs and he left her. He still loves her even after all this time.
I can listen to this song on repeat for hours and not get sick of it.
It's one of those songs that punches you in the gut, then gives you a hug.
I feel like this song is about him loving a girl who got into drugs and he couldn't love her anymore but still knew he always would by what he remembered of her. that's just what it sounds like to me.

I think the song is about a girl the singer dated (or maybe they were just friends?) when they were younger and how she spiraled down. The lines "they'd find you laying there on several different homes ... And lure you into their room ... That was love I could not allow/You were beautiful then/you're just a coke jaw now" makes me think that she became a drug addict and then resorted to prostitution in order to support her habit. It could also be the other way around, where she had to sell herself for some other reason and then turned to drugs to cope. Either way, it was too much for the singer to handle and he tried to distance himself from her.
I think he was her pimp, and she started giving it out for free- " love he couldn't allow". Now the he is no longer pimping her out, she's just a coke head that gives it out to anyone and everyone, for free. Modern day Shakespeare if you ask me!

I think this song is about a guy seeing the woman he once fell in love with. He may be in another relation, and she probably was the one to end it. And all the feelings and memories rush back in and he has to remind himself that this love was way back when. But, by the end of the song, he realizes that's all bullshit; he's always been in love with her.
