Pleased to meet you, nice to see you
Welcome to the siren
Elegy has gone away and run off with the gun
Dirty word is on the loose and on found its way to your heart
There no dreams but bottle dreams but you don't play today

Even though we seemed to sleep we listen for the sirens
Whisper of a freedom gun held nothing out by that girl
Even though she's poor as dirt she walks just like a princess
She could be your sister don't you know

When the rains come, put on your best
Fashion in the truth for the lies in your chest
I'd surely die if i thought you'd be impressed
You think everybody is a ghost

When you find yourself a room in the tropic of cancer
You reach for the nearest rope and pulled on it so hard
Words they circle high and free and listen for your answer
Please don't give me liberty just give me what I want

Funny thing about my eyes they don't get any older
You were 5 and I was 6 and we were scared to dance
And if I saw your blood run out I'd laugh just like a soldier
You could be my sister don't you know

When the rains come, put on your best
Fashion in the truth for the lies in your chest
I'd surely die if I thought you'd be impressed
You just let me know and i swear ill do the rest

When the rains come, put on your best
Fashion in the truth for the lies in your chest
I'd surely die if I thought you'd be impressed
You think everybody is a ghost

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
