Local Joke Lyrics

Common things never bother me cause I’m the local joke
Summer got high and swoll she calls me the broken spoke
Never been late to fuck with fate and see if faith’s a joke
Part of me wants the wants in life to tickle up and smoke
Come to me cross a ??? with all the empty traits
Everything is just unsaid no need to contemplate
All my weights drip as they leave my lips how come do something straight
She needs and excuse to end things and become the things you hate

I think it's "Part of me wants to watch and laugh as they go up in smoke," and "Constantly crossing paths with all the empty traits". Also possibly, "All my words drip(?) as they leave my lips, I've come to set things straight."

My Interpretation

Yeah i agree with those changes. Too bad, "Part of me wants the wants in life to tickle up in smoke" is a pretty sick lyric. Great song though, I love that last line. It seems to me like its about a relationship thats dysfunctional because of drug use.

correct lyrics from cd booklet

Those kinds of things never bother me cause I'm the local joke her sun burnt eyes roll she calls me 'the broken spoke' never been late to fuck with fate and see her phrases choke but part of me wants to watch and laugh as they go up in smoke

constantly crossing paths with all the empty traits you'd better leave things just unsaid then left to contemplate all my words trip as they leave my lips I've come to set things straight she needs an excuse to end things and become the things you hate

Am I the only one who thinks it repeatedly says "love you" in the background?

I think it's just about a female or male who's a local joke because s/he's, well....a joke.

sunburnt eyes roll- beautiful girl that rolls her eyes at him. she is shallow and does not understand his deep philosophical ideas.

part of me wants to watch and laugh as they go up in smoke- he will prove her wrong and when he does, he will be happy.

she needs an excuse to end things-you have proven her wrong and now she wants to end things

basically the song represents a boy(18-20) who is into a girl that is shallow. she does not take him seriously at all and therefore she calls him a "joke". he will prove her wrong with his ability to craft "something" and she will not want to accept it, therefore she will "end things".

"i've come to set things straight." yes, i did.

this is also the feeling you have when your life has been screwed over so many times that you no longer give a fuck.
