New Fang Lyrics
New fang, no thang
Had it made
To parade
Found a sucker
Now I want another
Stand up
Step aside
Open wide
Hanging out & on
Until the feelings gone
Want to? Yes I do
Wanna learn
Taking turns getting carpet burns
Loose lips
Lipstick spit
Come or go
I think it's both I gotta know
Sometimes you break a finger on the upper hand
I think you've got me confused for a better man
Sometimes you break a finger on the upper hand
Said you've got me confused, ah
I ain't a better man
No slack
Cadillac
Couldn't quit
Gums flap so
Here's your teeth back
Accept
What I left
Far behind
In a time
When my mind was like a landmine
Tailgate
By the lake
Too much, too young
Every button gonna come undone
Tightrope
No joke
Nothing left, so you go
Sometimes you break a finger on the upper hand
Said you've got me confused with a better man
Sometimes you break a finger on the upper hand
I know you've got me confused
Don't go, oh no
New fang pressing down low
No more waiting around for
New fang pressing down, ah
No more waiting around, ah
New fang
New fang
They gonna wait? No
New fang
New
Ain't gonna wait no more
Had it made
To parade
Found a sucker
Now I want another
Step aside
Open wide
Hanging out & on
Until the feelings gone
Wanna learn
Taking turns getting carpet burns
Loose lips
Lipstick spit
Come or go

It seems to me that it could be someone (maybe josh) looking back at some messy times, perhaps a drug addiction.
"Accept what I left far behind in a time when my mind was like a landmine."
just an idea :)
just to add, the more I listen to this song the more it reminds me of cocaine. i get the impression that the songs about excess, experimenting, and the ugly situations that have succumb because of it.

What the fuck.
lol. I had to voice my opinion somewhere. It just really irritated me. Sorry to come off so angsty.
Yeah, it sounds similar. But to quote legendary musician Woody Guthrie, "Yeah, he stole from me, but I steal from everybody." That's how music works. The great musicians all borrow sounds from each other, it's in the composition, not always the contents. Kind of like how an art class could all paint the same thing but you'd end up with many different interpretations of the subject.

This is how music works. We could find songs that sound like all of these songs, and songs that sound like those songs, and so forth.

it might sound similar, but in the sense that no tomorrow is a piece of shit of a song, and new fang is good. josh homme took shit and made it awesome. it shouldn't bother you; you should be thankful.

I think the whole image of TCV is just to be...weird. Its not supposed to make sense. These words illustrate feelings and randomness... I think the band would be kinda boring and bland if they didnt... You might say the vocals are really just another instrument meant to be felt as emotion, not rational stories or thoughts. Great song though.
I think it is about somebody first taking a drug. "New Fang, no thang"
I saw them live and Josh said "This song is about getting a new chance, it's called New Fang."
This song's about taking advantage of women. He sinks his "fang" into some unsuspecting "sucker" and it stirs up some sort of new-found lust in him, and he goes on a womanizing spree. Possibly this is some trend awakening from his past - "accept what I left far behind in a time when my mind was like a landmine."
this song is like my anthem everyone expects you to change and mold into the perfect person people accept you in the begining then wonder why you never changed when you have just been keeping it real from the start i think you got me confused for a better man and furthermore them crooked vultures is like the harlem globetrotters of music the fucking dream team
Sometimes we have to put aside the notion that all songs have to have a profound meaning, or any meaning at all. Sometimes they're just a collection of words that sound nice together. I think in general the Vultures have a Cabaret Voltaire vibe to them.
