10,000 Feet Lyrics

They came from ten thousand feet, on a possibility street
It was the law of the land, turned castles into the sand
When it's only kingdoms a turning, when I've got to find out some
learning
Even the people so small, wanna see the tyrant a fall, oh yeah
You could be, what you see, anytime, this time
Could it be, what you see, you could be, in time
Your love, my love, our love, in time
Your love, my love, our love, in time
It was the law of the land, turned castles into the sand
Somehow the machine prevailed, another tyrant's tale
It's only kingdoms a turning, watching the factories burning
Even the mountain so tall, will see the tyrant fall, oh yeah
Anytime, you could see, what you be, in time
Could it be, everything, that you see, is fine
Your love, my love, our love, in time
Your love, my love, our love, yeah in time
Take, the time, to see, the other things in life
Are all around, you never get the time
To see, all this, about me anyway
Your love, my love, will stand in time always

Who knows what it's truely about. To me, it simply kicks major ass.

I think that song is about a time-traveler, possibly Stockdale himself. He's come from 10,000 feet (outer space - well, not quite), to watch castles turn into the sand. The current biggest castle of all is the White House, with its past Kings Bush and Obama sitting on their throne; wherever they go, a procession follows, with food-tasters, hairdressers, and a red carpet, just as the Kings of old. The current Tyrant in his Kingdom is Obama, though certainly every president since Grover Cleveland has been one.

Even the people so small, you and I, want to see this system of injustice and the tyrant fall.

The bits about love are meant to be uplifting. You can be anything you want, this time - this time in your life. A reincarnation theme. I especially like any reference to Time, something that humans may never grasp, and I certainly struggle to wrap my mind around Time as the 4th dimension.

"Somehow the machine prevailed, another tyrant's tale It's only kingdoms a turning, watching the factories burning Even the mountain so tall, will see the tyrant fall, oh yeah"

Since this song came out in late 2009, it's possible it was written/recordered around the time Obama was elected. And it is true: we will see the tyrant, the United States government, fall. It is inevitable and true of every empire. The current currency crisis and Bitcoin give me hope we will see the USD collapse and no longer used as the world's reserve currency, at which point shortly after, no matter how large the United States military presence with bases in countries throughout the world, will fall.

The final lines are uplifting. Take time time to enjoy what is a relatively prosperous time for those people not living in poverty in 3rd world countries. You've got it pretty good. Remember to spread love. Love is eternal, in time.

Just my 2c.

I think this song speaks of political unrest & how far the damage from it stretches once it reaches its full potential. It also speaks of hope if we all ban together perhaps as one we can slay the beast.

Best song on the album. I would love know what it's about.

This song makes me think about how people are concerned with society. Policies, people in office, economy, etc. But the song points out that even through all that society throws at you, love can prevail with time.
