Rage from a distance
The name unfamiliar
Spikes reach the heart
Time set for rewind
The dark will rise
Abandon your freedom
Give up the right to find your true self
Forsake your own reasons
Forsaker
ForsaaaAAAaaaker
Hand of a leader
Bleached by snowfall
Opposition is drugged
The great end is sweeping in
The dark will rise
Abandon your freedom
Give up the right to find your true self
Forsake your own reasons
Forsaker

For me, it seems to be awaiting a tide that will overtake any freedom or happiness you have, and the tide is done by you yourself as you are the forsaker. The chorus says it all, specifically "give up your right to find your true self" which is what we all are on earth for - to define ourselves but if we give up that right to find ourself, what's left but an image formed by ourselves and others? Forsake your own reasons - forsake that which you makes you sane, you whole and rational for release into whatever you are fighting against.
"The hand bleached by snowfall (what a line!) says the leader is gone or the leader is unreachable because of the snowfall. Perhaps, this is your soul or whatever you want to believe it to be.
"Opposition is drugged" - This is a strange line, but for me, I see the opposition as myself and so if part of me is drugged, then it won't fight but take me down with it.
The first verse is hard to interpret. "Rage from a distance" could mean unexpressed rage that reoccurs mentally and the person you are mad at or the act you are mad about is long gone. The unfamiliar name - you. Your name is who you are. "Time set for rewind" could mean the replaying of what happened that set off the rage within. I don't know. For me, it is a song about internal struggles and the desire to give up and forsake your entire being.
@deviljin88 Love this. I would sign it.

I've just become a recent fan of this band, with this new album. This song is great - it's got melody, heavyness, powerful lyrics. They remind me of Anathema. I look forward to getting more stuff by them.
I think Katatonia refers here to the rise of a new world order, it wouldn't be uncommon for them since they have done it before, i think that, if you think about it - every single word in this songs literally explains how the iron grip of the ever strong totalitarian system is on the rise, and in the end - it will overtake everything on earth, and i must say - with where the world is going today - it is not far from the truth... I don't know, but the song really sends me that message...
To me this song is about someone who has became stretch and rigid due to his/ her beliefs.. Sometimes we do not see the big picture where there is not truth at all ... so our own reasons keep us trapped in a system of beliefs that we consider the" only truth"
The song is obviously about the video game Left 4 Dead, people who abandon their team are called Ragequitters, so the first line of the song talks about this: "Rage from a distance". It calls these types of people Forsakers, because that's what they do, they forsake their fellow players. The rest of the lyrics just say how the other team takes over.
Sounds to me, just like "Dream Theater - A rite of passage", as an interpretation of the NWO [new world order]

'the dark will rise' - NWO oligarchs 'abandon your freedom' - they want control, hence your freedom abolished 'give up the right to find your true self' - everyone is equivalent to a module of the world population, at all times disposable, slaves being equivalent to one another ergo no personality (true self) 'forsake your own reasons' - see 'opposition is drugged' 'hand of a header bleached by snowfall' - the apparent leaders are just puppets, their hands have no personality,...
