Q&A
Dear Elkhorn Lyrics
Wednesday last,
I heard you met a doctor.
He done told you that your
State will pass
As long as you would take your medicine.
You'll find
Salty lungs await,
Await your arrival.
What you had:
You had a family that loved you, cared for you,
And watched you crash.
Well it takes one to know one,
So, dear Abigail,
My sympathies to you
And all your survivors.
Elkhorn,
We passed you.
I heard you met a doctor.
He done told you that your
State will pass
As long as you would take your medicine.
You'll find
Salty lungs await,
Await your arrival.
You had a family that loved you, cared for you,
And watched you crash.
Well it takes one to know one,
So, dear Abigail,
My sympathies to you
And all your survivors.
We passed you.

Can't get this one out of my head, a really mellow tune. On the theme of their consistent references to British Columbia, Elkhorn is a mountain on Vancouver Island. It feels to me as if the narrator is discussing someone's fall into depression (think it's "watched you cry" in verse two), and using the landmark as a vehicle to overcome the obstacle... though that might be a stretch.
