IMO this song is about a deeply damaged person who views vulnerability as weakness. They detest weakness and feel it is a punishable offence. They never allow themselves to get close to the person they are with. They exploit the devotion of their current partner whilst always prowling for the next.

I love love love this song! It's the first song i heard from Yeah Ghost and i fell in love the minute i heard it.

Thoughts on what it means?

IMO it's a song about being on the Aromantic spectrum, or perhaps Demisexual; and the difficulties associated. Being misunderstood by other people who subscribe to mundane notions of relationships.

"Thought you'd be forever the same When did you become so easy to change?" -Romantic expression and flirting can seem so superficial to Aromantics: why do all the weird flirting and mating rituals when you could just save us both a lot of energy and confusion by being your authentic self?

"There will be no unguarded kisses, Let go of my hand when they're around" -Public displays of affection... WHY?!? Let's not do that.

"They say I'm unsound But what do they know? They can't figure out how to get down" -They think /I'm/ the weird one? Like... Have you SEEN people try to be romantic with each other?

"Soon enough I won't care Stay in my arms, if you dare You can't romanticize They are crazy" -I like you; please stop worrying about what other people think. Don't define OUR relationship by OTHER people's expectations...

"Will only let you down Try to figure out, how to keep you down They're all alone" -Real Connection is deeper than Romance. Don't let people who haven't found real connection dissuade you from finding it for yourself.
