Built To Last Lyrics
Behind closed doors,
We are building up our castles,
And we wait to be saved,
Behind these sheltered walls.
Tell me;
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.
Eyes of the innocent,
The death of human spirit,
A science of tragedies,
That we've let into our homes.
And I will never close my eyes,
To what I see everyday,
And even if it kills me,
I will never end up like them.
Tell me;
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.
A shell of a man,
Bled of every sentiment,
All honesty and compassion,
Destroyed in just one breath.
And I will never close my eyes,
To what I see everyday,
And even if it kills me,
I will never end up like them.
Tell me;
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.
We are building up our castles,
And we wait to be saved,
Behind these sheltered walls.
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.
The death of human spirit,
A science of tragedies,
That we've let into our homes.
To what I see everyday,
And even if it kills me,
I will never end up like them.
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.
Bled of every sentiment,
All honesty and compassion,
Destroyed in just one breath.
To what I see everyday,
And even if it kills me,
I will never end up like them.
Who will be left to save us,
When we can't even save ourselves.

What Matt said in an interview with Rocksond about this song:
“[That’s] a song that relates to the relevance of the way we live our lives and all of a sudden realising that we could be destroying ourselves. We’re so content, aware [that] this is the case, but we still go on living the same old lives and creating the same old mess. A few energy saving light bulbs isn’t going to make a huge difference. More action needs to be taken, hence the line, ‘Who will be left to save us when we can’t even save ourselves?’ We’re doing so much to destroy something that’s so precious and beautiful, and we’re not even aware we’re doing it sometimes!”
