Lost In You

Wow, this is such a powerful song, and here's what I think:

The entire song seems to be about a couple who broke up, where one of them still loves the other and is begging them to come back, while the other is watching and enjoying their pain.

"I always knew that you would come back to get me And you always knew that it wouldnt be easy To go back to the start to see where it all began Or end up at the bottom to how it all ends"

This, to me, shows that the other partner has only come back to see how much the other is hurting, and has no intentions of returning to them.

"You tried to lie and say I was everything I remember when I said Im nothing without you Im nothing without you"

"Somehow I found a way to get lost in you Let me inside let me get close to you Change your mind Ill get lost if you want me to Somehow I found a way to get lost in you"

This shows how much the partner loved the other one, and how much they want them back. By saying "I was lost in you" is to say that they put so much of themselves into that person that they cannot live alone anymore.

"You always thought that I left myself open But you didnt know I was already broken I told myself that it wouldnt be so bad But pulling away you took everything I had"

This reveals something of the relationships past, something where he must have found that the partner didn't love them, and they responded to that by breaking up with them. "But pulling you away took everything I had" shows that the one that still loves teh other really regretted the decision to do so, even if the other is ruining them.

"The pain of it all The rise and the fall I see it all in you Now every day I find myself saying I want to get lost in you Im nothing without you"

"The pain of it all, the rise and the fall" shows that in the beginning, they were happy with their decision, but as time went by, they found that they needed the other, and the other enjoyed this.

That's my interpretation, comment as you wish.

This song... to me.. Well, I think it's about a boy and girl who were best friends [and always just friends] for a long time, but then they started to be a little bit more than 'just friends'. They probably never told each other how they felt about one another, and she/he were always in denial about accidentally falling in love. Then, she decides to move on or move away and he's missing her and how he should've taken the chance to tell her.. but now he's finally telling her "let me get close to you, somehow i found a way to get lost in you".

-saying, he's always loved her and knew she'd come back.. and from her perspective as being his best friend it's hard to pinpoint when they fell in love, but it would also be hard to have gotten into a relationship and then watch it fall apart with him.

You tried to lie and say I was everything I remember when I said Im nothing without you Im nothing without you

-I think the past tense of this line is very important, "You TRIED to lie and say i WAS everything", like she was telling him that he used to be someone for her, but now it's different... then the "I remember when i said im nothing without you" like that's what he said in past tense, and then in present tense it goes "im nothing without you" like he still feels that way!

-that's him, wondering how he fell in love with his best friend, and him asking her to change her mind about being just a friend, but then going back to "ill get lost if you want me to" as in it's half her choice to fall in love as well.

You always thought that I left myself open But you didnt know I was already broken I told myself that it wouldnt be so bad But pulling away you took everything I had

-I kind of think that the "broken" should be "broke in", because to me it makes more sense. [or maybe im just trying to make it that way]. Open being like, single. and metaphorically she broke in: as in someone had already gotten to his heart, and then when she left, she took a piece of it unintentionally. Maybe she's the only girl he's ever really really fallen for?

-I think he is lamenting about how he fell in love with his best friend, and how he hoped they would fall in love, even through the ups and the downs.. it hurts, but he wants to get lost in her anyways.

anyways <3 ... i think it's a love song for his best friend. :) heheh

these lyrics really hit home for me...they're powerful... and i think they mean more to me because i've quite litterally lived this song... "I always knew that you would come back to get me And you always knew that it wouldnt be easy To go back to the start to see where it all began Or end up at the bottom to how it all ends" especially this first verse... it got worse before it got better... she wanted nothing to do with me for a while... but it's been 3 years now... ^O^

The way I see this song is like this:

"I always knew that you'd Come back to get me And you always knew that It wouldn't be easy To go back to the start To see where it all began Or end up at the bottom To watch how it all ends"

Just like others have said, he knew she'd come back for him. To see how he is and because she missed him. She knew it would be hard for him to see her again, possibly because she never gave him the chance to be together because of another man she went to instead of him. And because of her coming back maybe things would end up badly. But they will find out something and what will happen by it. "To see where it all began / Or end up at the bottom / To watch how it all ends".

"You tried to lie and Say I was everything I remember when I said I'm nothing without you"

I think she told him he meant everything to her, he was her 'everything' and he's saying she lied about it because if that was true then she wouldn't have gone with another man. I think the last half of this is obvious: He told her she was his everything, and without her, he was nothing.

"Somehow I found A way to get lost in you Let me inside Let me get close to you Change your mind"

Here he's telling her to actually give him a chance to get closer to her. He's so in love with her and he's telling her to give him a shot, she wouldn't want to be with any other person if she opened her heart to him in a more intimate way (being together) "change your mind" [about him, that he can be more than she thought].

"I'll get lost If you want me to Somehow I found A way to get lost in you"

But if she doesn't want to give him a chance - gets tired of the fact he is in love with her and can't see her in any other way because he's so in love with her 'lost in her' - then he will leave her alone if that's what she truly wants.

I see this part a little differently than others I think. I interpret this part as during their 'friendship' he never bothered to be with anyone else. "open" being single such as randomthoughts4 said. But he was just so in love with her he couldn't imagine being with anybody else and he was sad that he knew they wouldn't be together "broken"/broken-hearted.

"I told myself that It wouldn't be so bad Pulling away you took Everything that I had"

He knew she wouldn't be with him. He was expecting she would find another person to be with that wasn't himself. But what he didn't plan for was that it would hurt him so badly when she actually did leave him. "Pulling away you took everything that I had"

"The pain of it all The rise and the fall I see it all in you"

I feel this has a lot more meanings than I can think of. But the one thing that comes to mind, I think that was previously mentioned - is that she embodies everything he went through. She was the peak of his happiness "the rise" and the cause of his pain "the fall" And when he see's her she just brings it all back. The good and the bad. It's bittersweet when he sees her.

"Now everyday I find myself sayin' I want to get lost in you I'm nothing without you"

But he doesn't care about the pain because he loves her so much that it doesn't matter in the end as long as she's with him. She makes him a better person "Im nothing without you"

"Somehow I found A way to get lost in you"

Even though she caused him so much pain, he realizes that his life has no meaning without her. He doesn't know what to do because she isn't with him. He's completely in love with her, and totally lost without her.

I really don't get how small typos get made so easily, or why there isn't a "petition to change lyrics" button. Maybe it's just me not understanding how this site works, but shouldn't the lyrics be screened better if they're so hard to get changed?

"Or end up at the bottom to watch it all ends" should be "Or end up at the bottom to watch how it all ends"

Not going to double check the rest of the lyrics since I doubt it'll change much.

This sounds way different than what I'm used to by Three Days Grace, but it is still an amazing band! I'm just listening through their new album, and so far it is amazing! Three days grace never fails to make the best music and their lyrics really can hit you :)

I love this song!

I didnt really like this song at first, but now I cant get it out of my head. The chorus is so powerful and lyrics are great. New TDG favorite!

Ugh, I'm so mad, I had this huge thing typed up and then my connection failed :(. Basically, it's a song about getting entirely LOST in someone and then the pain that comes with realizing that the feeling is less than mutual. He's not angry, only sad that the love wasn't as strong for the other. He doesn't want her to lie about how her feel, and it's hard for him to be around her because he sees all the pain he went through in her. She's trying to come back and help him in the beginning. He knew that she would, but he only wants her to be his girlfriend because he loves her.

This is my favorite song off the new album. I enjoy listening to every one of the songs on the album, but when this one comes up, it gets repeated at least 3 times :) the melody and Adams singing work amazingly well in this song. Its relatively easy to play on a guitar as well, making it a great one to play for someone special. its a great song with a beautiful meaning and i love every second of it.

i thought this album wouldnt be as good as it was supposed to be at first when i read some critics about it...but i can't get over this song when i heard it for the first time
