To me this song is about knowing that God doesn't always take us out of our problems. Becoming a Christian doesn't mean your life is going to be easy.

We'll go through hard times, but God doesn't always remove us, because sometimes he wants to do something through us, and use these times to produce something good in us.

There's a promise that He's ALWAYS with us. He stays with us.

what i get from this song is that sometimes what we think is bad for us is actually what's best for us. we need to get ourselves out of this worldly definition of "blessed". when God blesses us, He draws us closer to him. riches, fame, fortune, or even just plain security are tenuous and don't last. the only thing that does last is our relationship with God and so that is the only true way we can be blessed.
