Exogenesis: Symphony Part 2 (Cross-Pollination) Lyrics

Rise above the crowd, and wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere
The edge of all our fears
Rest with you
We are counting on you, it's down to you

Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all

Spread our codes to the stars
You must rescue us all

Tell us, tell us your final wish?
Now we know you can never return
Tell us, tell us your final wish?
We will tell it to the world

Christ, don't any of you listen to Muse's interviews? The three-part symphony is a freaking story. The idea is simple: humans have destroyed earth (pollution, war, overpopulation, ect.) A select group of humans are sent to go find a new planet for humanity to home, a new place where they can "start it over again" and they'll "be good, this time we'll get it right". The song is a story about forgiveness and redemption. Not to mention the hauntingly beautiful vocals, whinngly fantastic guitar solos, classical piano peices, face-melting drums, killer bass and simply amazing structure of it all.

Matt Bellamy has created a complete masterpiece. What I would give to be inside that man's head.

I think you mean just "what you would give to be inside that man". :D All that other shit you said was cool too.

It's "It's down to you" not "It's up to you."

This part describes how humans have a tendency to destroy the things near them. They try to rest their hope in a small group attempting to save them, but most people are too scared to go for themselves.

I think the above comments have pretty much got it down.

Brilliant symphony is brilliant.

almost.

actually, in part 2 of the suite, the humans, who have accepted that civilization is coming to an end in the overture, send a group of astronauts out to repopulate a new planet. this song is the people back on earth telling the astronauts that they are their last chance.

part 3, then, is about the astronauts' realization that the humans will simply do the same things over again on the new planet, and so they urge the people to change their ways instead of simply going and wrecking some new planet.

This CD is just....pure amazing. I've never fallen so much for a band before in my life. But there's just something about 95% of Muse songs that just capture me. With their rhythms, their walls of sound, and their lyrics. I'm not sure if I agree or not with the previous poster about Muse creating a "fictional world". I think they are sending a message that this is OUR world, current and future. Not fictional. If we continue the way we are right now, the themes of Exogenesis could ring true.

As for part 3, I don't believe it's the people begging the astronauts or greater beings to take them, and allow them a fresh start. They apologize for their mistakes and "promise to get it right".

I've never been so moved by a lyricist and singer such as Bellamy. I cannot wait to see them in concert. Shame that they were only on the east coast this recent tour with U2.

This whole symphony has to do with a theory (or idea) of panspermia. Look it up. I think you'll get the picture.

This is my favorite out of the 3 course deal, though its hard to choose. I love when it breaks into the "spread your codes to the stars" part...it always gives me goosebumps its so good. I agree with the interpretations with the panspermia/exogenesis ideas. After all, the suite is named Exogenesis...

I'm going to have to agree with the first several posters and strongly disagree with DeedlesMarie.

It's not like sci-fi stories are foreign concepts to Muse albums (Black Holes and Revelations, anyone?). And these lyrics scream sci-fi.

Rise above the crowds Wade through toxic clouds Breach the outer sphere The edge of all our fears rest with you We are counting on you, It's up to you

Astronauts taking off and leaving the earth. That makes sense.

Spread our codes to the stars, You must rescue us all

This song is called Cross Pollination. Cross pollination is usually talking about mating one flower with another flower. However, it makes sense that it would mean breeding species from one planet on another planet.

Tell us Tell us your final wish, Now we know you can never return Tell us Tell us your final wish, We will tell it to the world

Asking the astronauts if they have anything they want to tell the world, since the astronauts won't be returning and everyone on earth is screwed.

I think the lyrics are pretty straightforward, really.

Well this is my interpretation... The 1st part of the symphony hes doing those humanitys questions as "what are we doing here" And he´s asking that to God. the 2nd part, he´s looking for an answer from God, a salvation, (here we check the title "cross" as the cristian symbol of salvation), asking Him, what we should do to, what does He want us to do. The 3th part, as a sign of "redention", he´s demanding God an new chance to fix what we´ve done wrong and admiting He´s the one who can save us now...

First of all, I hope you're joking. If you aren't, then fuck you. If you really made that kind of interpretation for this, that must mean you try and fit god (notice how I kept that lowercase) into everything. i.e. You ruin everything with god. Muse aren't a shitty christian band you asshat. LATER.
