I think this song is about someone who is dating/with someone who is manic. When a person feels mania, they feel as if they are floating around and lighter than air (I know from experience). Also, mania can pull people apart because the person in the manic episode generally does not want to be tied down and just wants to experience so many things all at one time. Hence, the waiting.
