It reminds me of when I lost my mother. Great music sets free emotions and this song definately has such an impact on me.
It definitely has to do with the loss of a maternal figure and how a "she" and a "he" react to it. While she grieves by remembering the good lessons mamma taught her, he accepts it by just convincing himself that mamma has just gone somewhere else.
But it could also be about a girl blaming his boyfriend for her mamma's death, possibly for not being able to represent what mamma had wished for her daughter.

It makes sense. She's talking about "somebody higher" and he's talking about science.
Whatever the meaning is, the best thing is this track has proved again that they are more than "Barbie Band". In a recent concert while she sang it she had watery eyes and wanted the people to be quiet. Maybe it was about her mother!
