I listened to this song on repeat, and what I think it means is.
She's in love with a guy she met in summer. And they talk about seeing each other again (lol its like Grease) And she thinks about him for the rest of the year. The whole thing about Doctor Jones, is that she wants him to cure her, as she can't stop thinking about Summer Fling Guy. Near the end she says "why does he have to be like that" maybe he doesn't want to see her again, so again she wants Doctor Jones to help her. Either for comfort, or that she really thinks that 'love' is a disease, and she wants a cure to mend her heart.

Is the "Dr. Jones get up now" lyric a reference to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? I kind of thought it was but there's nothing else in the song to support that. Then again, there isn't much connecting the verse to the chorus.

Aqua was the first CD I ever bought. And this was my favorite song.
This is such a sweet song... reminds me of falling in love for the first time, and how special and magical it felt, and then how it feels your life is over when it finishes. It's a shame that Aqua are seen as a novelty band, mainly because of Barbie Girl, but they're fun. Proud to have them on my iPod lol
I'm pretty sure this is meant to be about the Indiana Jones movies - the music video for it had the band dressed in similar clothes on a raft in the middle of the jungle. As far as I can remember.
yes, Dr. Jones is a referens to the famed Indana Jones after all Aqua has made itself famous on the ablility to sing songs about a) incredibly silly and nonsencincal things b) parodies and songs about well know things (ex: barbie girl, dr. jones, an apple a day, halloween, candyman...etc)
I can't help but smile no matter what when I hear this song. Bt the lyrics forgot the ever important a yippi ya you a yippi yai yea... or however you spell it :)
Great song; a forgotten classic. First heard this in '98 I think on The Chart Show (an amazing music show with no presenters); good times.
The only people I know have heard of Aqua only know Barbie Girl. :(
Anyway; this a great upbeat song, I agree with calmingdeepblue; you can't help but smile when you hear this.
