Before the Truth will come to fill our eyes
The world comes down in the form of fire
And when the the answers and the Truth have cut their ties

Will you still find me
Will you still see me
Through smoke

I was born in a house in a town just like your own
I was raised to believe in the power of the unknown
'Cause when the answers and the Truth take different sides

When the whispers have painted pictures that make you doubt what you once believed in
Paper stories that hide the Glory to keep us searching
Through smoke

Who do you believe when you can't get through
When everything you know seems so untrue
When I'm lost in a place that I thought I knew
Give me some way that I might find You

    My Interpretation

I'm an atheist now, but my childhood was shaped by my Christian faith. This song reaches out to me. I know it's probably not what Needtobreathe intended, but to me this song tells a story about a man losing his faith but desperately trying to hold on to it, as I did for such a long time before finally abandoning it. "When the answers and the truth have cut their ties"...life has shown me that my beliefs just aren't making as much sense as they used to. "Will you still find me, will you still see me, through smoke?" I want God to still be there for me, I want him to make sense of all these questions and eliminate my doubts (smoke). "When everything you know seems so untrue...when i'm lost in a place that I thought I knew....give me some way that I might find you" That bridge is the most powerful...we desperately seek the surety and comfort of our childhood faith but it has eroded to the point that you're left with uncomfortable doubt and uncertainty. We want God to restore that confidence in our faith.

For me personally, I pleaded with God for 6 months of my life in college to restore that faith, and he never did. But that pain and sadness has been replaced with the liberation, joy, and happiness of accepting the fact that while there is no God, I can live every day as if it were my last without the repression and guilt that comes along with religion. This song reminds me of that beautiful transitional time in my life six years ago.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
