Happier Lyrics

Quick kid quick, so harsh and cynical
Touches stricken, cold and clinical
What a transformation to behold
But I don't like this new, I want the old

It's not the words that make it final
You've said such things such things before to rival them
But it's how you say 'em now that's changed
Cold but sympathetic all the same

Lie to convince me that I'll be better off
Oh, you go on and I'll be happier, I'll be happier
You go on, yeah, you go on
You'll be gone and I'll be happier

Shoot me with your rubber bullets
Your finger's on the trigger, pull it
I know you want this suffering to end
So it is forgivable my friend

It's all to convince me that I'll be better off
So you go on and I'll be happier,
You go on and I'll be happier
You go on, yeah, you go on
You'll be gone and I'll be happier

Bo-bo-ba-do-bo
Bo-bo-ba-do-bo-da-da-da

Say what you mean, what you mean
Cause you'll be happier without me, without me, without me, oh

You won't convince me, that I'll be better off
So you go on and I'll be happier, I'll be happier
You go on, you go
You'll be gone, and I'll be gone
You go on and I'll be happier, you go on and I'll be happier
You go on, you go on, you go on and I'll go on and I'll be happier
You on and I'll be happier, you go on and I'll be happier

You go on, and I'll be happier

i think it's "quick kid quip" not "quick kid quick."

i think it's about a relationship where the guy is sort of pulling away because he wants to get out of the relationship but doesn't have the courage to just end it. so instead he tries to convince her how much happier she'd be without him. but she isn't really mad at him for being a wimp because despite the fact that the relationship is over he really doesn't want to hurt her ("I know you want this suffering to end So it is forgivable my friend")

everyone's opinion on this song so far has been about the same, and I agree. I've been listening to this song on repeat for the past couple of weeks since my boyfriend told me that he doesn't know if we should continue going out because he just doesn't treat me the way he should. he literally told me that I would be happier without him and much better off. but he can't prove that, in my opinion. it's rather sad really. I don't want to give what we had up but he thinks it's best for us both to move on. and at the same time he keeps coming back because he doesn't want to hurt me... anyway. I think this song is a lot similar to my current situation. I adore it. it's really helping me keep positive thoughts and hopefully soon I'll be "happier." : )

Great song, and all interpretations sound bang on.

However, does anyone else think the beginning sounds just like Kids by MGMT? Gets me every time!

This is gunna sound super nitpicky but... Is the line.. "Say what you mean, what you mean is you'll be happier without me, without me, without me, oh"

I think the meanings pretty straight foward. ya'll have got it. =D This is my song obsession right now.

In my opinion this song is about when a person in a relationship starts to change into a whole new person and then because of that change it becomes disfunctional. Both people are suffering so they would both he happier and better off if they went separate ways.

to me, it sounds like she is trying to convince herself that she'll be happier without him, instead of telling him that she'll be happier

Actually, it's the exact opposite. He feeds her the line "Oh, you'll be happier without me" and she doesn't buy it. He doesn't want to own up to the fact that he doesn't love her anymore and he doesn't want to be the bad guy. Basically, she just tells him that he'll be happier and then she can't convince herself that she'll be happier without him in the end even though he will be. It's sad, really.

This is a good song, the best in my opinion of her new album. I have to say I was a little disappointed with her new cd. But this song is catchy.

i love this song cause this is what i do whenever i get close to anyone. i just shut them out and try to be all independent and self-sufficient. she's captured it so well in this song

I thought that the way she structured these lyrics were so perfect. It was said so complicatedly simple. We know exactly what it's about though, she makes it clear.

It's just a relationship that both of them have grown out of and it's just not the same and they both know they'll be happy if they just go their separate ways.
