Teardrops (Womack & Womack cover) Lyrics
Whenever I hear goodbyes, reminds me baby of you
I break down and cry, next time I'll be true, yeah
Fever for lost romance reminds me baby of you
And I took a crazy chance
Next time I'll be true,
I'll be true, I'll be true, I'll be true
Footsteps on the dance floor reminds me baby of you
Teardrops in my eyes, next time I'll be true, yeah
Whispers in the powder room
"She cries on every tune, every tune, every tune"
And the music don't feel like it did
And the music don't feel like it did
And the music don't feel like it did with you
When I'm dancin' 'round, reminds me baby of you
And I really let you down, next time I'll be true
I'll be true, I'll be true, I'll be true
Footsteps on the dance floor
reminds me baby of you
Teardrops in my eyes, next time I'll be true, yeah
Whispers in the powder room
"She cries on every tune, every tune, every tune"
And the music don't feel like it did
And the music don't feel like it did
And the music don't feel like it did with you
I break down and cry, next time I'll be true, yeah
Fever for lost romance reminds me baby of you
And I took a crazy chance
Next time I'll be true,
I'll be true, I'll be true, I'll be true
Teardrops in my eyes, next time I'll be true, yeah
Whispers in the powder room

And the music don't feel like it did

this song has nothing to do with the massive attack song, "teardrop." it's a cover of a womack & womack song originally recorded in 1988, and has since been covered by several other artists. anyway, i haven't heard the original but i LOVE this version so much.
I always thought that the "crazy chance" was that they cheated on their partner, who then found out about it and broke up with them. Now everything reminds them of their lost love, and they regret throwing it away.
Whether its a cover or not I think this is such an awesome band. My take on the song is that the couple went into the relationship for all the wrong reasons or they really wasn't meant to be together,
Hence; "And I took a crazy chance"
they broke up and she feels like ever since then things aren't the same.
Hence; "And the music don't feel like it did"
She misses him but its too late and the next person she dates she'll be completely honest and real with them or she made a mistake and she wants him back,
Hence; "When I'm dancin' 'round, reminds me baby of you And I really let you down, next time I'll be true"
This song fits right now. I like this cover better than Massive Attack's take. It could be about an insecure lover in a relationship that leaves them slightly unsatisfied, not enough to have the courage of being truthful rather the need of destroying or attacking first. it's too late to go back once the time has been butchered.
@ac9hooker - as pointed out: two different songs. This is not a cover of the Massive Attack song "Teardrop". :-)

this is such a fucking beautiful cover
I think about the phrase "i took a crazy chance" it refers to a suicidal attempt, and not omit that there is a reference to de consumption of cocaine in "whispers in the Powder room" she is suffering about her dead love and using drugs to bear with it. She wants to be with the person who she let down. So the next suicidal attempt will be true.
ac9hooker, you just said it. i love this cover.
